2 Tire problem of the 2002 Mercury Grand Marquis

Failure Date: 09/12/2013

I purchased a set of bridgestone insignia se200 5/2013 . 4months later I replaced 1 tire due to side wall splitting. Today 12/14/13 I replaced the tire that I bought in 9/13 for the same problem. I contacted bridgestone via email but got no responds I contacted them by phone they told me there was reason for me to be concerned about the tire failures I had experienced even though 40 % of the tires had purchased this year. 3,000 miles on first tire even less on the second tire ,the tire dealer contacted bridgstone and replaced the tire with a firestone tire since bridgestone no longer maker the insignia and he did not want to use another insignia because of what he felt was a manufacturing defect that had been seen in the insignias and other tires that bridgstone makes some of witch have already recalled I will keep a close eye on rest of tires. In my 40 years of driving this is by far the worst set of tires I have ever owned . Bridgestone should do the right thing and recall this tire before a tire failure causes a fatal injury to some one . But I am sure because of the lack of responce and unconcern of the people that I had spoke to at bridgestone . My local tire dealer is send my failed tire to bridgestones tech's lets see what they have to say.

Reference NHTSA action number pe 08060. On 7 April, 2011 I had failure of two tire valves and destruction of ome tire. Both valves leaking air at point of insertion, ie cracked stems. Visited local Ford dealer, carbone Ford-Lincoln on 11 April 2011. Was told no recall would fix for a price. Told him of NHTSA report and that it was a manufacturing defect and Ford should be respnsibe and was ttolg I was being unfair. In my request. Got nowhere with forg , they did not even want to inspect problem, just pay or leave. On 12 April 2011, icontacted Ford motors by phone and spoke with denise. Denise was surprised to hear of such a problem (???) told me the service manager should not have been rude to me and informed me there were no recalls on my vehicle. I told her that the problem was present in vehicles, Mercury Grand Marquis built between December 2006 and March 2007 and that my car was built in March 2007. She said it didnt apply to mine and that I can return to the Ford dealer and have it repaired for a price and would get a 12 month warranty with the paid repair. I remedied the situation by purchasing a new set of four tires instead of spending $200 0n one tire I dont like to match th oe michelin lx. I live in snow country and the lx do not go in snow at all.

Vehicle would shake violently at any speed from 45-80mph. Took to a mechanic said the front end needed to be replaced. $800. 00 later it still did it, then took back said the tires needed to be replaced although we had 80,000 mile tires, and only had 35,000 miles put on them. Replaced the tires for $600. 00. Still shook, took to a different mechanic said it was the transmission failing. During scheduled maintenance found cracked intake manifold, antifreeze and oil in spark plugs, cleaned out changed spark plugs, ran fine until the manifold leaked more coolant into the spark plugs and now we are at square one. Researched online found a bunch of places saying it was recalled, when I called the dealership they said no recalls. Price of replacing the part was $615. 00 if I had one alternator, or $650. 00 if I had another.

Failure Date: 09/23/2008

Noticed front end vibration in Mercury grand prix. Asked mechanic to verify if wheel bearing bad. No problem there so took to sears tire store in hemet to verify if tire problem. Advised that 3 of 4 tires have tread separation and would have to be replaced at my expense even though under warranty because I did not have road hazard coverage. My dispute with service writer included assistant manager who supported his position. My position was that this was a material failure and should be covered to no avail so left store with 3 bad tires. Went to temecula branch of sears where service writer immediately recognized the problem and set about changing tires under warranty to my satisfaction. These tires are bridgestone brand with 65,000 mile warranty and about 40,000 miles use.
