1 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2007 Mercury Grand Marquis

Failure Date: 09/03/2012

Gas pedal went all the way to the floor and would not release. I kept hitting the pedal to try and release it for about 2 miles. I kept my foot on the brake to try and slow the car down, but that didn't help. The floor mat was not under the pedal because it is too short to reach it. After hitting the pedal as hard as I could numerous times it released.

5 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis

Failure Date: 05/31/2011

I own a 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis LS that unexpectidly goes into unintended acceleration when slowing down or stopping vehicle. I never know when the unintended acceleration will occur. First noticed problem at about 24000 till now at 71000 miles. The problem occurs usually in a line of traffic as I am slowing down or slowing down to stop at a stop sign or traffic light. Or parking the vehicle. Suddenly the engine starts racing and sometimes the vehicle will jump forward rapidly (sudden unintended acceleration). I have to apply the brakes rapidly and with extreme pressure to keep the vehicle from hitting the vehicle in front of me or to keep from running a traffic light or stop sign. Most of the time when the engine races and I apply the brakes the rear wheels willl continue to spin at a high rate even to the point of causing the rubber on the tires to smoke and still try to push me forward. After applying the brakes I must turn off the engine using the key to stop the unintended acceleration. This is a serious safey problem. I noticed the problem not long after purchasing the car and reported it to the dealer dub herring Ford in picayune, ms. While the car was still under warranty. They didn't do anything to check or fix the problem. They seemed not to worry or be concerned about this problem! I reported the problem several times to the dealer with no success. I then reported it to the Ford motor company several times and they refered me to the dealer which didn't do anything to fix the problem to start with. I then took the car to an independent repair shop and they tried to find out from the dealer and Ford CO. If there was a recall or notation or fix for the problem. The independent shop said the dealers and Ford CO. Wouldn't give him any information concerning the problem. They asked me to contact Ford motor CO. And see if I could get any response for a fix or repair and got no help from them. I am lodging a formal complaint against Ford and the dealer.

9 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis

Failure Date: 12/01/2006

The blower fan of the heater & defroster failed to operate. Windshield frost on the outside and fog on the inside could not be removed thus making driving very hazardous. After several days the problem resolved itself but reoccurred every year or two. I researched the problem recently during the last failure (2/6/2011) and feel strongly that the intermittent failing part is the blower motor speed controller, part number xw1h-19e624-ab. Fortunately, the motor and blower will operate (for now) after I hit it a couple times with a hammer. Several web sites describe this part including photos. Removal and installation. If this item has not been recalled as a safety issue, I think it should be.

11 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis

Failure Date: 11/15/2003

This is our third Mercury marquis - and we love them - but both the 1999 model and especially this 2003 model has a serious paint problem. Our last two cars have been white and we barely got them home when the paint, especially on the front and rear bumpers, began to peel. What, if anything, is Mercury doing about this unsightly, annoying, and frustrating problem??? we are not class action types but, after putting up with this for several years, we are ready to revolt!.

15 Unknown Or Other problem of the 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis

Failure Date: 07/03/2002

I purchased this vehicle which had 86,715 miles on it. Shortly after the purchase I noticed the engine would spark knock anytime the car was put under a load when the transmission was in high gear and in overdrive. Due to my schedule I did not take the car in for this problem until the drivers side window fell down while attempting to roll it down. After spending 741 dollars to repair those problems I drove the car approximately 50 miles and steam came from under the hood. The car was towed back to the dealer. The dealer evaluated the problem and advised me that the intake manifold was broken. I was advised the repair cost was $893. 75 including towing. Iwas advised by both the dealer and the Ford customer service line 1-800-392-3673 that there was no recall or warrenty for this problem. By finding this web site I have found 16 other simular conplaints.

16 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2002 Mercury Grand Marquis

Failure Date: 06/13/2002

This is a concern and I am wondering, if it should in fact be a complaint. I purchased a 2002 Mercury marquis on June 12th of 2003. I was assured this, as other autos had been checked out and in good order. I am now noticing the ignition key sometimes does not turn when I am trying to start the car. Equally important, I ran a carfax report and discovered on 11/18/02 this car had 27,262 miles. When I purchased it, and because of the mileage, which at that time was 27,279 I was assured this was a good car. I find now, that it was not the retired, senior citizen who wanted a new auto trade in, but this was a rental car from burlinggame, CA. Now I am wondering if I should be concerned this car was sitting for 8 months and thus only had 17 miles more in June than in November? or be suspect about the odometer being rolled back? it just doesn't seem accurate a 2002 would only have 17 miles more in 8 months from Nov. 2002 to June 12, 2003. Thank you.

26 Unknown Or Other problem of the 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis

My problems began almost immediately after purchase. The abs and the power loss, I consider to be life threatening. The power losses occurred during rush hour, after dark and while driving alone. Considering the fact that I am female, I consider this to be a two-fold danger. Ford has offered to pay me $2000 toward the trade-in of my car (cloverleaf to pay 17,500 for mine). This still has me paying in the neighborhood of 5500 for a 99 model. I did not purchase my car to be trading in after a year and none of this is my doing nor my choice. The car I was driving before the purchase of my new one (it wasn't a Ford product) had 150,000 miles. I no longer felt safe in it. It appears that I was wrong. I probably was safer in it than in the new one. I realize that none of my problems will qualify my car for the lemon law, however, considering the numerous problems I have had, I most defineately consider it to be a lemon.
