general problems of the 2010 Mercury Mariner

Me and my wife purchased a vehicle from a private seller to use for personal commute. A month later we started to notice more issue were occurring with the car then stated from the seller. I took it to an auto body shop to get it inspected and possibly serviced and upon that inspection the clerk stated that there was a milage adjustment done to the vehicle. We contacted the seller to try and return the vehicle and receive our money back, but the dealer refused and requested us to resell it.

My vehicle keeps throwing codes for the evap system. I have noticed many of these vehicles have to have their purge valve cannister replaced along with the selenoid for it. I have to replace mine. Is that not a defect if the vehicle? I have owned several vehicles and never had this issue with any of them.

The wheel wells are rusted out in the rear. Of the vehicle.

When filling gas tank yesterday once full gas leaked from under the wheel well onto the tires. The car was parked at a gas station. I was asked to move the car away from the pump by the gas attendant.

I had just gotten off the highway and my wrenc symbol illuminated and the car immediately went into limp mode. I crawled to a safe spot. It was a very dangerous situation. No warning at all.

Switch for ac wont blow out air. Took it to valoline to add freon. . They said, it was full. . Cold worked for 5 days then ac stopped working at hotest time of month. . . Took vehicle back and they stated, it was full still but added more freon to make me happy. . After a few days no ac and I took to a mechanics business. The owner and 4 others stated that the belt is turning maybe they overfilled it. . Told me to take it back to valoline and have them take out all freon then put amount back in but not to full. I did, worked for 2 days now again no ac. Blower worked but no ac comes out. . I cant afford anymore visits. Now as of yesterday the blower will only work on number 4. 1 2 3 nothing comes out. Please assist me with this problem. . I have been so happy with this car for 3 years. I take excellent care of everything it needs. First Ford I ever owned. . . Hope its not the last one I own if this doesnt get solved. Thank you for this site. This is my last resort. . I have had it in shop to many times concerning this matter. . Denise saftey issue here . I was going to work very foggy and I turned on heater to clear windshild no blower worked on numbers 123 but 4 would. . Cant have it running full blast always. . Ac if full but wont work with blower on. . Being hot really makes me cranky and that can cause raod rage safety issue there too. Lol lol please help me. . .

Car stopped running wrench light came on started motor put it in gear tried to go regular pace car did not go it is very slow no gas peddle turned it off let set for 2 hrs. Started back up runs ok but check eng. Lite came on called dealer.

As I was driving 55 mph on a us route (no overpasses in the area), I heard what sounded like a gun shot and then the glass of my sunroof shattering. The interior shade was closed so I could not see the damage immediately. When I pulled off the road there was a large hole in the center of the sunroof glass and the glass was raised upwards as though it had been impacted from an object thrown from inside the vehicle. There was no evidence of any object that might have impacted it from the outside.

Rear liftgate glass shattered suddenly while opening/closing rear liftgate. Automobile was parked.

Car shuts off when driving. Mechanics can not replicate issue.

1. Outside review mirrors do not defrost. They were frozen and I was on the highway putting my life in danger because I could not see outside vehicles passing to be able to go right or left. Then a week later their was frost on the mirrors and still they would not defrost again I couldn't see other vehicles on either side of my vehicle. 2. There is a gear shifting problem as well. Whenever I take off at a stop my car kicks real hard and loud enough to scare me. I have reported this several times with the dealer that I bought my vehicle from and they cannot find the problem. They have heard it do this but cannot seem to find the problem.

My wife went to shut the back lift gate and window exploded in to small pieces.

I had two separate occasions of my car stalling in the past three days. On may 1st I was traveling at about 40 mph when my wrench light came on and the car stalled out. Fortunately there was a median right by me and I was able to hurry up and move over before the car came to a complete stop. On may 3rd I was traveling at about 35 mph when the wrench light came on and my car stalled out in middle of the road. This time I was stuck in middle of the road but no one was behind me. I was able to restart the car and continue driving. If this had happened on the main road then there would have been a good chance of an accident occurring and harming me or my children.

I was trying to accelerate at a stop light and the transmission (?) did not engage. When I came to a stop light the car jerked like it was it could not switch gears.

Throttle opens and closes inadvertantly.

Throttle body is gone I get the p2111 code this part is costing me 440. 00 dollars the warranty the company sold me does not cover it and that is a joke also.

I purchased my 2010 Mariner 03/26/2013 from a local dealership. While driving at around 35 - 40 mph I noticed a grinding sound and difficulty to increase speed. I then noticed that my left blinker was flashing at a faster speed and the tail light went out. That was replaced. The car then would sporadically go dead and would have to be jumped. I had 3 different service shops look at the vehicle and found no issues. I did replace the battery and it appeared to run fine for about 3 - 4 days. It is now sporadically dead and the local dealership will look into the issue on 8/7/2013. Undetermined problem at this time.

I had just gotten back from a long trip, and was stopped at a red light - I barely accelerated once it turned green, and the car lost complete and total power, in the middle of the intersection. A wrench light came on. No throttle was working as much as I pressed down. The car kept snail pacing until I got to an empty parking lot where I turned the vehicle off. I turned it back on and it reved itself, so I turned it back off. Turned it back on and all of a sudden it worked again. I took it to the dealer who claimed it was the "electronic throttle body" failing and charged me $98 for the diagnostic. I decided for a second opinion, and they took everything apart to see if it was something else since the car is only 3 years old and only has 30,000 miles on it. After much testing they concluded it was in fact the "electronic throttle body," and the repair cost me $595. Before this happened, 2 or 3 days prior, I felt the car was losing power and it was hard to get it to go at it's v6 potential. Car still hesitates and feels like the engine jumps out when it stops and moves again. . . Sure enough my engine mounts now need replacing, and that's anywhere between $350-$500. Another recall perhaps? it's been doing this since day 1, and my warranty ended about 6 months ago. Go figure. . . Just when 3 years was up! sigh.

While driving on local interstae (271s) my car began to lose speed and dropped from 60 mph to 10mph then to a crawl. Luckiy I made it to the shoulder ( I was in the right lane with limited traffic) the car began to sputter and jump. I turned off the ignition. This could have been a serious possible fatal accident if I had been in heavy traffic. No warning was provided. It happened, the wrench symbol popped up as it was happening and there was nothing I could do. I travel daily on the highway to/from work. The traffic is very heavy. Luckily, I was on the road on th weekend during a fairly low populated time frame. I called Mercury and and received no assistance . I called my local dealership and received no satisfaction there also. This is a serious incident and has hapened to many ( I can provide website with testimonials. ) since this not a powertrain issue and it was past the 3/35,000 coverage, I stuck with the expense $360. 00. Wear and tear is one thing but to see a flaw like this occur for many and nothing is done is not acceptable.

I was driving my Mariner and turn into a heavy traffic road and my car just went dead once I was in traffic. L was lucky that I wasn't hit from behind me. The car warnings displayed a wrench on the car panel. I took the car to the shop and it required repairs to the throttle control/power train. The car only has about 4600 miles on it. I have researched this problem on the internet and this is a reoccurring problems. There was no warning of a problem. The car just died in the middle of traffic. This is very dangerous and seem to be a known problem. Does someone have to die before they get this problem is recalled? the problem occurred so quickly that if you are not observant to your panel, you will miss it. And, it you are in an accident when it occurs, you will never see it.

While driving through road construction on the interstate my Mariner lost power. I had my child in the backseat and was lucky enough to be able to pull over and turn off the engine. The power train light and engine light came on. I started it back up and continued until I could exit off the interstate and continue on the highway, where it happened again. Again, I turned off the engine and got it started back up. This happened one more time before I got it to the mechanic. He said that it was the throttle body and that it was on a national back order. There are 8,000 requests for this part! what will it take for Ford to finally issue a recall on an obviously defective part, a fatality?.
