After having a new water coolant pump (the fourth one in my Mariner Hybrid) and a new throttle body being put into my car by a Ford dealership, my car is still having the same problems. Now a "service emission sys" warning has come on, and being under 150,000 miles still I contacted Ford to see what could be done since it was "fixed" by them but still has a problem related to the electrical hybrid powertrain, and Ford says there is nothing else that can be done, even though it clearly is under the warranty that they created due to the failures of both parts.
I was going down the expressway when I got a warning and a message telling me to safely stop the vehicle, and I lost power down to a crawl. I took it to the dealer and they said this wasn't covered by the extended warranty I purchased even though they said it was part of the power train . I even called Ford customer service warranty division and they said it wasn't covered but if it was recalled they would refund repairs with receipt. . I looked online and there are lots of complaints of this part going bad and replaced by a updated version that will hold up better for this gas/ele. Motor. I believe they should recall this part and cover it upon replacement. The cost estimate was $670!.
Car would not move at all after coming to a stop when making a left turn in the middle of an busy intersection. With the car idling at 1000 rpms, it would not move when I pressed the accelerator. I had to shut the vehicle down completely, restart it, and then it would move forward only if I pressed the accelerator immediately after restarting. If traffic did not allow immediate travel, the car would not move forward as previously described. If you could not proceed immediately this cycle would continue multiple times. This has happened on over 30 separate occasions with this vehicle. This problem caused multiple safety risks from side or rear end collisions.
On December 30, 2006 my car stalled and the dash error message referred to a mecp pump. I had that part replaced with an amazon part before the recall, it is also faulty. The safety recall is, 142s19, from Ford. Cars stall because of a faulty mecp part. I tried having the part replaced by a Ford dealer. The dealer refused and to make matters worse they posted online that they made the replacement. That is a lie. Ford customer tried to get the dealer to cooperate but they told they cannot make a dealer honor a recall. Please help.
