I was approaching a stop sign going about 15 mph and the applied the brake. Instead of stopping, the car accelerated and I had to steer around a car in the intersection to avoid an accident. I applied the emergency brake and threw the car into park to stop it.
The contact owns a 2009 Mercury Mariner Hybrid. The contact stated that after applying the brakes in the parking lot the vehicle accelerated. The vehicle did not respond to the brakes and did not stop until the vehicle crashed into a parked vehicle. After hitting the vehicle the rpms continued to increase and did not stop until the engine was turned off. The vehicle was towed to the dealer to be inspected. The police did not file a report because they said it was in a school parking. The failure and current mileages were 14143.
