One problem related to speed control cable has been reported for the 1998 Mercury Marquis. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
After driving about 500 miles stopped and started vehicle, motor accelerated to almost full speed. Dealer contacted and found plastic shipping cover in throttle plate, which was stuck in to keep throttle open. Repair work done.
