The contact owns a 2007 Mercury Milan. The contact stated that the rear driver side door would not unlock. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the locking motor mechanism was faulty and needed to be replaced. In addition, the interior door handles for each door failed and were also replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 57,400.
Front passenger side door latch malfunction. Door would not close. Had to duct tape door to get to destination. One passenger who was seat belted, but still a great safety hazard.
Driver's inside door latch broken - no longer can open door from the inside. If in an accident, could not exit vehicle quickly if needed. Materials for the door latch are cheap plastic.
The passenger side front door flew open while driving. The door was in locked position and opened while going around a curve in the road. Passenger was wearing seatbelt so no injury occurred. Attempts were made to close door, however it opened under slightest of pressure, even when locked. Door was tied closed with rope and taken to dealership for repair. The latch assembly on the door was found to be broken and replaced.
