1 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 09/09/2019

Tl- the contact owns a 2007 Mercury Milan. The contact stated that while driving at various speed, the vehicle will not shift past 4 rpms. The contact also stated that when depressing the acceleration pedal, the vehicle began to jerk and shake while accelerating. The contact also stated that the vehicle shuts off while the acceleration pedal was depressed. The check engine, the traction control, and the transmission warning lights all have illuminated intermittently when these failures have occurred. The vehicle had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic where the contact was informed that the throttle body was defective and needed to be replaced. The contact spoke with a dealer(gosch Ford hemet 150 carriage cir, hemet, CA 92545 951-396-7250) where she was informed that there are no recalls on the vehicle. The contact then informed the dealer that upon her investigation, she had discovered a manufacture recall:13n03 which was a free repair Ford offered its costumers who had a defective throttle body inside of the vehicle. The dealer informed the contact that they were unaware of the recall and referred her to the manufacture. When the contact spoke with the manufacturer, the contact was informed that they were aware of this particular recall but that the contact's vehicle was out of service warranty and was no longer entitled to the repair. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was 126,000. Jo.

2 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 08/19/2019

My mom was driving on the freeway at 65-70/mph and all of a sudden the car jerked and shut off while it was rolling down the road. There was no warning! she could have been killed! the car suddenly lost acceleration power and the wheel locked up on her. We've checked to see if there has been any recalls and apparently there's a recall for the 2011 models, but nothing older. However, I have read multiple forums and there's been quite a few people that have had this issue. Again, she could've been killed!! something needs to be done!!.

3 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 11/23/2015

Vehicle engine light and wrench light comes on. Vehicle rpm's goes up causing vehicle to slow down on expressway. If you stop and restart the vehicle, it resets and drives normal. A couple times a day this happens.

4 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 11/15/2015

I was traveling on a two lane highway going about 60 mph with my two granddaughters in the car with me, when all of a sudden I lost power and the car began to decelerate. The wrench light came on. I pulled over to the side of the road and after calling my mechanic I turned the car off. I waited for about 5 minutes and restarted the vehicle. The wrench light went off and I was once again able to drive the vehicle. This is very dangerous if it should happen on a major freeway in rush hour traffic. Some internet research indicates that this has been a major problem with the Mercury and others. I called a Ford dealer who said my car was not part of the extended warranty that was part of the "customer satisfaction program" and he would not tell me any other information citing liability concerns.

5 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/24/2015

We were northwest bound on the ohio turnpike just before rt 11 south of youngstown. Travelling 70 mph, the car suddenly lost power and decelerated. The motor continued to run, but the car would not go more than 5 or 10 mph. The yellow wrench light on the left side of the instrument panel illuminated and remained until the motor was turned off. After sitting on the side of the highway for about an hour, the vehicle was started and the yellow wrench light was gone. Aaa advised me to take the next available turnaround and return home which was about 70 miles away. After we turned around, the aaa technician followed us to the next service plaza. While there he checked the vehicle's fluids and found no problems. The vehicle's diagnostic check indicated that all of the monitored systems were alright. We drove the 70 miles home without incident. I suspect electronic throttle body connectivity as referenced in Ford's customer satisfaction program 13n03 to be the cause of this incident.

6 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/15/2015

The contact owns a 2007 Mercury Milan. While driving 50 mph, the vehicle was having trouble shifting and changing gears. The malfunction indicator lamp illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 83,500.

7 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 01/17/2015

Was driving home on the expressway where the speed limit is 65 and vehicle wouldn't go over 55 with rpm's at 3000. All the while having the wrench idiot light on. Hoping there is recall because I can't afford a new vehicle or even for it to be fixed.

8 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 11/05/2014

This happens with more frequency. The car studers when accelerating from a complete stop. Feels like the front tires are struggling to grip the road when the road is in fact dry and front tires are in good condition. Also tried to start and the engine started and then stalled. I had to do this three times before it started.

9 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 12/26/2013

While first driving my car from a standstill, I noticed the "wrench idiot light" on. The car seemed to buck as it went through it's gears. Also, the speedometer registered "0" at this time. Upon entering the highway, the car would not go into what I think is 4th gear. Several times, the car lurched forward and then throttled back to a low rpm, before responding to the gas pedal. Eventually, I could run at 55 mph @ 3000 rpm's, but it wouldn't shift any further, even when I went faster. At this time, the speedometer needle finally registered my true speed. A couple of times, the rpm's suddenly shot-up and then the engine throttled back. However, the car felt like it should have gone into it's final forward gear but couldn't. On local roads. It shifts extremely hard into it's gears. The whole time, the car's "wrench" light was on.

10 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 08/05/2013

My car suddenly lost power and the wrench light came on, at the stop sign I shut the car off and restarted and it was gone. This happened intermittently until recently the car shutters and dies in rush hour traffic when you slow or come to a stop. It also loses power and accellerates very slowly. Now the wrench light is always on and the car surges when driving. I understand others are having trouble with this very issue. All my milage is highway miles as I drive 160 miles round trip per day. The throttle bodys are very expensive and a definate safety hazard as the trouble just kicks in at any given time and the sudden loss of power occuring during bumper to bumper is a safety concern. I have maintained my car and tried to keep it like new. I think the issue needs to be addressed and the throttle bodys need to be recalled.

11 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 11/16/2011

Driving on interstate at approximately 75 mph on 11/16/2011 when vehicle suddenly lost power, engine still running but no response to accelerator. Fortunately there was minimal traffic and I was able to coast and exit the highway into a truck stop. Vehicle was towed to a station that identified a throttle actuator shutdown. System was reset but no other problem could be identified at that time. The same thing happened on 6/15/2012, traveling at approx. 40 mph on a back road, no other traffic, was able to safely pull to the side. Vehicle mileage at time of second incident was approx 100,040. Vehicle was towed to a dealership where the part to be replaced was identified. My concern is this represents a potential safety hazard were this to occur on a busy highway. There is also a hard jarring of the transmission when the throttle shutdown occurs.

12 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 04/23/2010

Car always shifted hard at 2500 rpm's. But got progressivly worse. Took to wayne Lincoln Mercury (where I had purchased the car new) they tested the car and said nothing was wrong. Brought car back at about 53,000 miles with same complaint they said it was a motor mount. Had it checked at local garage they said motor mount was fine. Power train warning light came on trans started to slip trans fluid almost black. Car had extended warrenty but dealer refused to honor because car didn't have 70,000 mile servicing done. Took to local trans shop transmission completley rebuilt car was fine for two weeks. Power train light came on trans started to slip brought car back. They rebuilt trans again. Power train light on again car jerked in reverse, back to tranny shop said it was slipping again. Shop didnot want to take chance with current transmission rebuilt another trans and installed in car. Week later same problem car in shop again. Has been going on for six months. Can't drive car at all.
