1 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 04/05/2024

The brake lights on my vehicle are constantly illuminated while my headlights are on, regardless of whether or not the brakes are compressed. This is a huge safety concern for me, as other motorists can no longer see when I am braking. I was pulled over for this and given a fix it ticket.

2 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 01/03/2022

Tail and brake light for the second time has failed. A safety function of this nature should not be this difficult to fix and replace. The item should be available and affordable. You literally have to take out a lone to get it fixed. So now I can't go to work or anything else with this vehicle. This is supposed to be an affordable car. So the only way for me right now to fix is park it. I hear one person say " well it's not like a wheel falling off " I said tell that to the person behind me. With all these distractions now, between phones and other fancy options on cars. I'm a truck driver so I know how important these warning devices are. It is time to set a new standard in how safety items get replaced availability and cost should never be an issue. !!!!!!!!! with out question.

3 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2020

My passenger rear lights flicker or don't work at all. Have been told they have been replaced before! should be a recall as they are expensive and all led.

4 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2020

L e d module for the rear brake lighs stays on all the time, bright.

5 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 09/17/2019

The passenger side outer led taillight has failed now twice. Quite expensive to replace as you have to buy a whole new assembly vs just a new bulb.

6 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 12/18/2017

My head lights are not sufficient. It does not have the option for 2 bulbs. I have changed out the bulbs 3 times while owning this vehicle and from the first night I drove it after owning it, I noticed the lights where very off. I drive around town and on dark roads where there is no road lights at night with my head lights on bright and I do not get brighted back. I have hit an animal due to the lights not being bright. I fear driving the car at night or where it's to dark because the light assembly is not proper. No warning lights.

7 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 03/13/2015

Led tail/stop light fails; Ford garage says this is a common problem with this car and part; this is a real safety issue that Ford refuses to fix under extended warranty; repair not possible; only replacement of assembly at a cost of ~$400 each.

8 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 12/19/2014

Right rear break light inoperable and none repairable. The assembly is not repairable and is very expensive to replace ($300 to $400 ). Ford should make the assembly serviceable or affordable. Failure is very premature and should be recalled.

9 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2014

Driver side tail lamp assembly is not functional seems the led portion of the taillight assembly needs to be replaced at a cost of $400-500 from the dealer. This is the second tailight in the 2 years of ownership that it has had to be replaced. Very poor design and safety concern of mine since this is no longer a $2. 00 bulb replacement but an entire taillight assembly.

10 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 11/13/2014

Left rear taillight does not illuminate on depression of the brake pedal. Right rear taillight flickers but fully illuminates on depression of the brake pedal. As the lights are led and encased in a housing, the replacement cost approaches $400 per unit.

11 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2014

Noticed led taillight beginning to go out passenger side. Individual leds unable for replacement but full taillight needs to be replaced at a cost of $284. Due to cost of replacement, I feel the taillights should last longer than four years or 60,000 miles. The part is uncommon and not stocked in any part stores here, city of 70,000. I work on the road so that makes finding time for a dealership repair near impossible. I am now driving with a dim taillight while I try to find one online and await shipment for a diy.

12 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 09/25/2014

The taillight fixture on my 2010 Mercury Milan is now bad and Ford wants $400 to replace it. It is an led fixture and should not have burnt out by now. I cannot replace the bulb on my own, the whole fixture must be replaced.

13 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 09/09/2014

Noticed left outer taillight flickering in July 2014. Light finally went out. Entire assembly was changed on 9/1914. On 9/9/14 noticed th we same flickering. Light has not gone out yet but it is only a matter of time. Dealer wants $114 just to look at it. There are a lot of complaints with this model. Needs recall.

14 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 03/16/2014

Trailing driver noticed issues with left taillight flickering intermittently. . . . A visit to forums indicate a widespread problem with costly repair and Ford not wanting to take ownership of the problem.

15 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 02/17/2014

The rear right exterior light burned out. There are supposedly led lights. Dealer notified me that the cost of the part was approximately $450. 00 and that did not include labor. This is a safety issue and Ford refuses to pay anything. This car is a 2010 Mercury Milan. It is my first Ford product. I have been a loyal Toyota driver before their but wanted to buy an american car. This is after the throttle body had to be replaced. How can they justify this?.

16 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 06/19/2013

I purchased my 2010 Mercury Milan used on August 30, 2012 with 987 miles. Approximately in June, 2013 the car's right rear tail lamp went completely out and I had a new tail lamp installed for $408 + labor. In November, 2013 the car's left rear tail lamp went completely and and I had a new tail lamp installed for $408 + labor. Now, March 6, 2015 the right rear tail lamp has gone out and I cannot afford to keep on paying these expenses when I now know that this is a Ford problem and due to poor engineering of the light assembly and because it has not been re-engineered to correct the problem, this will be a recurring problem for the life of the car. I run the chance of being stopped by the police for an unsafe vehicle.

17 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 02/13/2013

I was pulled over by police for burnt out taillight assembly . . . Passenger side assembly needed replaced at 42000 miles and now drivers side burnt out at 43000 miles. . . Factory only part cost me $432 and now I'm looking at another $432. . . I thought led assemblies were suppose to last longer than bulbs. . . . Not the case in 2010 Mercury Milans. . . This is my first Ford and my last Ford!!.

18 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 10/25/2012

Husband saw brake flicker-monitored it over next year-figured loose bulb. One time went out but came back on. Went in for oil change 9-25-13 mechanic noticed flickering and at times not working. Checked connections-ok at this time. Determined vehicle needs new otr mntd tail lamp est. $402. The led bulb is under $10,but must replace entire unit! notified Ford and noticed others have had same issue.

19 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2012

Led taillights are on high (as if brake pedal is depressed) at all times causing other vehicle drivers to not know when the Milan is braking. Ford dealership states that these are defective led bulbs ($400 replacement cost) which is not covered by the warranty.
