Side/rear Glass Problems of Mercury Milan

The contact owns a 2007 Mercury Milan. Immediately after the door was closed the rear window disintegrated inside the vehicle. There were no defects present in the windshield prior to the failure. There were no injuries. The contact stated that he could not determine if the weather was a factor. The vehicle was always parked in the garage which was where the failure occurred. The contact will notify the dealer to determine if the vehicle should be towed or driven so that it can be repaired. The failure mileage was 54,000. Updated 07/26/11 the consumer stated the rear window was replaced at his expense. Safety would have been an issue if people had been sitting in the back seat with the window disintegrated.
