(accidentally filled this out already on the vehicle complaint page, sorry) I brought my vehicle in for its 90,000 mile service and the technician told me both rear tires had cracks between the tread and the shell of the tire. The next day I took the car back to the installing tire shop for evaluation. It turns out all four tires had the same problem and were replaced on a prorated basis. This could have been a disaster for my son or daughter at highway speeds! the tires had only 20,200 miles and were 2. 67 years old. I expected more like 60,000 miles and no defects. 2009 Mercury Milan. Consumer states front suspension failure
the consumer stated the problem was the upper suspension arms on the vehicle. Right after the vehicle was purchased, both upper control arms had to be replaced, before alignment problems could be addressed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for unrelated problems. However, the consumer was informed that windshield wipers, transmission fluid and new tires were needed. Shortly after the visit to the dealer, the consumer purchased new tires from another dealership. The dealer inspected the vehicle and discovered the left front upper suspension arm was hanging by a loose nut and several threads on the upper arm's bolt. The consumer noticed there was no safety device that would have prevented the retaining nut from coming loose.

Tire valves failed on my 2007 Mercury Milan. Had to replace 2 tires and avoided further tire damage when I had remaining tire valves replaced due to under-inflated tires. Someone at Ford is aware of this situation but apparently not their customer service or dealers. I believe the NHTSA has bee aware of this since 2008. You might want to follow up before we have another explorer/firestone type crisis.
I have a 2007 Mercury Milan and I have been bothered by slow leaks in the tires since I purchased the car in March 2007. The tire pressure decreases at a slow rate, causing me to refill the tires to bring them to proper pressure every few days. I saw an article concerning the tire valves for these Ford products and believe my situation is the same.
