1 Equipment problem of the 2006 Mercury Montego

Failure Date: 05/03/2016

Electronic throttle should be a recall vs a customer care item. This is bs and Ford knows that it should be. I haven't had my car 3 yrs yet, purchased pre owned and it just hit 10 yrs and is 186,000 miles and needed to be under 150,000 for them to fix. It just started doing this and I replaced alternator 3 times think this was the issue. Ford need to stop thinking of their bottom line and take care of their customers. I purchased this care after I was in a awful car accident (no fault of my own) that left me with a messed up sciatic nerve for rest of my life. I purchased this car as I was told no issue or recalls and it served my needs. Boy was I lied to. I was almost killed yesterday driving this car due to the power loss in middle of driving. I need this repaired ASAP as this is my only transportation and a known issue.

2 Equipment problem of the 2005 Mercury Montego

Failure Date: 04/05/2016

Recall #06v383000 latches/locks/linkages "as a result, the door latch pawl may not return to the latch position when the door is closed, and the door could open while the vehicle is moving. " is listed as having been completed, yet the issue is still present. Last night, rear door was frozen shut due to water seepage. Today, driver's side door did not latch properly and opened while I was driving the vehicle. I called Ford and they informed me they are no longer responsible for this. Obviously, the recall was performed improperly, if at all. I am concerned that the additional recall listed (NHTSA campaign number: 05v515000) may not have been performed properly as well, as both recalls were (supposedly) fixed at the same location.

3 Equipment problem of the 2005 Mercury Montego

Failure Date: 04/05/2016

My car dies all the time. I was told it was the throttle body. It also has a picture of a wrench and when the car dies it says fail safe mode. It only dies while driving. It doesnt matter what speed either.

4 Equipment problem of the 2005 Mercury Montego

Failure Date: 08/08/2015

Parked car at home after dropping daughter off in town car performed normally. Five hours later went out to pick daughter up. Started car and had no speedometer, odometer, tachometer, no cluster panel at all. No lights on panel, a/c would not function and backup lights came on and stayed on. The wrench symbol light came on at this time. I tested the car daily with the same results, until Tuesday, August 11th. I had an appt to take it in to a Ford dealer to have it diagnosed. When I started the car at this time, the cluster panel and a/c were working, the backup lights were off (except when in reverse) and the wrench light was now off. However, now the check engine light was on. Diagnosis at the dealership was that the cluster panel was bad and was sending incorrect codes (p0462 & p2067) causing the check engine light to come on. Since those codes are associated with the powertrain control module it could cause the engine to stall at any time.

7 Equipment problem of the 2006 Mercury Montego

Failure Date: 03/10/2014

When driving the car comes to a sudden stop and only allows me to go 20-25 mph. Very unsafe. I was on the freeway going about 65mph and then engine lost power - speed dropped to 20 mph on the freeway. Luckily I was able to pull over in time avoid a high speed collision. The sudden engine power loss happens going at different speeds even as slow as 30 mph. The rpm needle goes up and down. I have had the the throttle body cleaned at the dealer from a previous recall, and have gotten the throttle body cleaned again.

Failure Date: 06/13/2013

Too many times to count 25 30 even more. When driving my 2005 Mercury Montego the complete dash cluster lost all functions and read outs, always at speeds above 30mph. A few times 9 or so the car would buck a few times. I had the harness connector checked and no problems found. This condition prevents me from using the vehicle as needed, to driver a few times a year from connecticut to north carolina and back to visit ailing family members. No other reasonable transportation available. We will pro ally never buy a Ford product again due to safety concerns. Need advice as to problem and how to fix.

9 Equipment problem of the 2005 Mercury Montego

Failure Date: 06/05/2013

When braking it jerks and shifts into neutral and the engine reeves to 5000+ rpm. After braking and slowing it again shifts back into drive. This only happens when braking or increasing speed. No dash lights illuminate, indicating a problem. Having to slow suddenly in traffic is very dangerous. A Ford dealer recommends a new transmission and a transmission shop recommends a new electronic module. . This is an intermediate incident problem occurring approximately every two to four weeks. .

There is a lot of people complaining to Ford but nothing is being done. If not taken care of this will be my langford product. 3ford's inmyimmediatefamily now. All will be scrapped ordering for cars from a company that takes care of its customers. Ford new the cvt trans was a problem.

11 Equipment problem of the 2006 Mercury Montego

Failure Date: 06/01/2011

No crash has occurred so far. Defective windshield material may cause a crash in the future. Chemical changes inside the windshield (or possible delamination of internal plastic material) is causing a spreading area of the windshield to be not clear. The problem is only noticeable if I am driving into the sun. The sun shining on the defective area reduces the visibility through that portion of the glass to an unsafe degree. The problem was first noticed about 2 years ago and affected only a small portion of the front windshield. The problem has steadily grown worse until about 15 to 20% of the windshield is affected. The problem was discussed with a Ford dealer and a Ford area representative. They advised me to change the windshield and save the receipt in the event a recall notice is issued. I currently have an appointment with an independent auto glass supplier to replace the windshield.
