Transmission problem its racing also the cruse control speed up more than it should my family and are not safe when going on a long road trip how would you feel having a break down in the middle of no where and on the high way because of the bad transmission you put in the vehicle please fix it please.

The contact owned a 2004 Mercury Monterey. The contact stated that when the gear shifter was placed into the reverse position and backing out of a parking space, the vehicle accelerated on its own and crashed into a fence. While I was driving,the 2007 Monterey Mini-van suddenly stopped responding to the accelerator. The brakes were still responsive, as was steering. There was absolutely no warning to this abrupt problem, and it was particularly worrisome because there were vehicles following me on the 4-lane road and I was unexpectedly not moving besides coasting to a stop. When driving the lights on the dashboard panel, blinks on and off consistently. Stays out for 1-2 minutes. After which the headlights start to go out stays off for 1-2 minutes. Then the car starts to jerk and decline in speed. The speedometer goes to zero then jumps back to actual speed. When the power is out there is complete loss of power to the windows and interior lights and door lock. Took the car in for service he said that he has had many people come in with this type of van with the same problem. Thus is dangerous when driving at night with loss of visual aid. He said that only a Ford dealer can repair the problem. This is frightening and wreck less.

I'm afraid that this electrical problem will soon cause a fire of some sort.
