Air Bag Not Deploy problems of the 1998 Mercury Mountaineer

Two problems related to air bag not deploy have been reported for the 1998 Mercury Mountaineer. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Air Bag Not Deploy problem

Failure Date: 03/25/2004

While driving 30 mph,the driver applied the brakes, the pedal went to the floor and hit a patch of ice. The driver lost control of the vehicle hit an embankment then hit a tree. The driver side seat belt became unlaced during the collision. The air bags did not deploy. The driver sustained neck injuries and was transported by ambulance. 2 Air Bag Not Deploy problem

Failure Date: 10/25/2003

While driving at 35 mph driver lost control of the vehicle and hit another vehicle head on. Upon impact, both frontal air bags did not deploy.
