Nine problems related to tire blowout have been reported for the 1999 Mercury Mountaineer. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The contact owns a 1999 Mercury Mountaineer. The vehicle was equipped with goodyear wrangler tires, line size: p235/75/r15, dot number: rtn-st235-75-15105s. The contact stated that while driving 70 mph, the front passenger side tire blew. The contact lost control of vehicle and drove into the woods, crashing into several trees. The contact received injuries to the ribs, head, back and shoulders. The police department was called to the scene and a police report was filed (south carolina police report number: 40-8691422). The vehicle was destroyed. The approximate failure and current mileage was 80,000.
1999 Mercury Mountaineer tire blow out occurred while driving at 70 mph. ** answer required***. The consumer was told the rotors were out of round.
While driving at 75 mph high speed, the right tire experienced a blow out. . The consumer stated the tires were replacement tires.

While driving about 65 mp right front tire had a blowout. Then, consumer replaced all four tires. P235/75r15, dot w2, Mercury, mountanier, 1999. The tire blew out on a new vehicle with only 4000 miles. Firestone refused to refund the customer for replacement tire.
Prior to publicized reports or recalls on firestone tires I had my first 2 tire blowouts in my 20 years of driving on my new Mercury Mountaineer. The first was considered a puncture which I accepted. The second was considered a road hazard by the firestone dealer. The second tire blow out appeared much like a bad hair piece, I am now aware of the term - tread separartion. Again, this occured prior to any reports of any firestone tire defects. I went to another tire dealer for replacement as I was not satisified with the firestone dealers explaination. While driving the rear drivers side firestone wilderness at tire blewout, consumer requested reimbursement but firestone denied request because the tire was not purchased on a pro-rated basis. Nlm.
Right front firestone wilderness at tire blewout causing damage to the rim, the blowout was so severe it took over a half hour to change the tire. Nlm.
