Carrier/rack problems of the 2006 Mercury Mountaineer

The rear window hinges disintegrated and the rear window fell off. We were not in motion and just in lifting the window it cracked off. In researching there was a recall in 2004 for the same exact issue for the same make/manufacturer . The problem however was never fixed in the years that followed and sadly there has been no subsequent recalls if I small child was behind the window they could have been seriously injured or if the car was in motion the window could have cracked and fallen off. After calling the Ford motor company they responded that for my make and model year the recall doesn't apply but to hold on to my receipt just in case. . . . .
