5 Seats problem of the 2008 Mercury Mountaineer

Failure Date: 08/04/2019

When I am driving the car the seat will move back on it's own volition into exit position. This happens when it goes over a bump or if the key is jiggled in the ignition. It happened in multiple situations last week. Very frightening as I have to scramble to reach the brake and also move the seat back into position. I have turned off the easy exit option so this has stopped it but it upsets me that I no longer have a feature that I paid for.

6 Seats problem of the 2008 Mercury Mountaineer

Failure Date: 10/16/2018

While driving the vehicle the interior light turns on and the seat moves back into the park position. This is a safety issue as it is difficult to reach the pedal/brake and it happens without notice. There is no rhyme or reason to this problem. I have seen multiple posts regarding this issue and don't see how it cannot be a recall for safety reasons.

7 Seats problem of the 2007 Mercury Mountaineer

Failure Date: 08/26/2018

Tl the contact owns a 2007 Mercury Mountaineer. While driving various speeds, the interior lighting illuminated and the driver's seat unintentionally moved backwards. 8 Seats problem of the 2007 Mercury Mountaineer

Failure Date: 02/15/2018

Intermittently, the seat moves to the 'easy egress' position while the car is in motion. The dome light comes on, as it would if you were getting out of the car. From reading the many similar complaints, I agree that it happens when braking or turning and it happens at all speeds. This started happening about one month ago. No accident yet but it's very jarring and dangerous.

9 Seats problem of the 2007 Mercury Mountaineer

Failure Date: 11/06/2017

While driving my children to school this morning my seat adjusted itself a couple of times so that I had a difficult time reaching the pedals until I could get it back to the proper position. This has happened before but I thought it was a "fluke". Today, when I picked my kids up and drove home it happened 7 times in 3 miles and almost caused me to hit a pedestrian. This happened on a city street. I was unable to isolate a "trigger" to the movement. One time I was going about 30 on a street, another time I was slowing down to a stop sign at a busy intersection.

14 Seats problem of the 2008 Mercury Mountaineer

Failure Date: 05/05/2016

I also have the same issue with the ignition causing the seats to move the easy exit position. This happens constantly while driving and is very unsafe. The interior lights come on as if the key was turned off and removed from the ignition, also causing the seat to move the exit position. When this happens, I am unable to reach the pedals and scramble to correct the issue. I see where this is happening to quite a few other owners. Something needs to be done before someone is seriously hurt or killed.

15 Seats problem of the 2008 Mercury Mountaineer

Failure Date: 05/01/2016

The contact owns a 2008 Mercury Mountaineer. While driving 30 mph, the front driver's seat automatically retracted backwards. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. Also, the interior lighting illuminated on its own. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 135,000.

16 Seats problem of the 2007 Mercury Mountaineer

Failure Date: 03/17/2016

When driving the vehicle at any speed the seat moves all the way back and the interior lights come on. This also happens when you brake or go over a bump. This is very dangerous to someone of my size because when the seat goes all the way back I can no longer touch the pedals. This is happening very often and I have googled it and I can see that a lot of other people who own this year make and model are having the same problems with their vehicle. I have taken it to several mechanics and Ford dealers and nobody seems to be able to figure out what is wrong with it.

17 Seats problem of the 2008 Mercury Mountaineer

Failure Date: 03/15/2016

After approximately 90,000 miles the dome lights turned on and automatic seats move back while driving. This issue persists and often occurs several times. There are several complaints of this issue found online. It is not due to a heavy key chain as I only have the fob and key attacked. This is a safety issue as the seats pull the driver away from the pedals and steering wheel. Investigate! recall!.

18 Seats problem of the 2008 Mercury Mountaineer

Failure Date: 03/06/2016

The driver seat moves back when driving. No set pattern. Sometimes as many as 10 times when driving and other times 1 time. No set pattern. Just happens.

19 Seats problem of the 2008 Mercury Mountaineer

Failure Date: 02/26/2016

Defective ignition. When driving, if you bump the key (or attached keychain), all interior lights will come on, and the drivers seat will retract all the way back into the "easy entry/exit" position, making it impossible for a shorter person to reach the brake or gas pedal. Sometimes during this event, the car will stall. This is very dangerous, and the internet is full of people having this identical issue. Why hasn't this been recalled yet?!? people are paying for a new ignition tumbler, but before long it starts happening to the replacement tumbler as well. . Read more...

20 Seats problem of the 2008 Mercury Mountaineer

Failure Date: 02/07/2016

While driving, driver seat moves forwards or backwards. Not the first time. When vehicle was purchased it happened and we brought vehicle to shop and module was replaced, now this issue is happening again causing me not able to reach brake or accelerator pedals.

21 Seats problem of the 2006 Mercury Mountaineer

Failure Date: 10/15/2015

The contact owns a 2008 Mercury Mountaineer. While driving various speeds, the driver seat moved independently. The failure recurred four times. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 150,000.

23 Seats problem of the 2008 Mercury Mountaineer

Failure Date: 10/02/2015

When I hit a bump the driver seat moved in and out of position that I had set in the memory seating.

24 Seats problem of the 2008 Mercury Mountaineer

Failure Date: 09/24/2015

The seat while driving automatically moves back from the brake pedal which causes problems stopping the vehicle. The seat then moves you forward pressing your foot against the gas pedal causing you to speed up. It is a random issue and you are unaware while driving when it will occur. This can cause a serious accident to someone or someone's property and injury to the vehicle occupants.

25 Seats problem of the 2006 Mercury Mountaineer

Failure Date: 06/15/2015

Mountaineer premier awd with just over 150,000 miles. Went to raise rear (third row) electrical seat on driver/left side. Makes a slight clicking sound and will raise up about 1 inch, then just stops going up with sounds still heard. Further investigation shows a motor in the center along a gear shaft which must raise the seat. The motor is whirring like it is functioning but the shaft doesn't move. There is no way to manually fully raise the seat.

26 Seats problem of the 2007 Mercury Mountaineer

Failure Date: 03/01/2015

The drivers seat, will, without warning, while driving on the interstate, automatically start moving backwards to it's default position. Sometimes the interior light will come on simultaneously. In a panic, so far, I have been able to stop the backward movement by grabbing the seat position button and forcing it to move back up to the preset position where I have been able to get my feet back on the pedals. This has occurred multiple times while driving full speed on interstates, on side streets and frontage roads and everytime without warning. One time, while sitting at a stop sign, I could not catch it quickly enough and it moved so far back that my feet could not reach any of the pedals! luckily that time I was sitting still. This has been happening for three years.

27 Seats problem of the 2008 Mercury Mountaineer

Failure Date: 10/10/2014

While driving between 50 - 65 miles per hour the electric driver seat will move back into the open door park position and the inside lights will come on. Has happened multiple times since October 2014. There is no set pattern, it is completely random.

28 Seats problem of the 2008 Mercury Mountaineer

Failure Date: 10/01/2014

While driving if on bumpy roads the seats will return to the open door position and inter lights come on. Making it hard reach petalls.

29 Seats problem of the 2007 Mercury Mountaineer

Failure Date: 10/01/2014

I was driving my vehicle and the driver's seat moved back, and the dome light came on. This really scared me! thank god I wasn't on the highway traveling at a higher rate of speed with other vehicles when this occurred. The first time this happend was approximately 3 months ago (the seat moves back, I move the seat up & it goes back again, I move it up again. . . Until it finally stops). This continues to happen periodically every since.

30 Seats problem of the 2008 Mercury Mountaineer

Failure Date: 09/20/2014

While driving, I moved my foot from the accelerator to the brakes, and my knee brushed along the key fob dangling from the ignition switch. The seats then automatically retracted to the rear position. This has now happened four times, and seems to be extremely dangerous--particularly because it happens when moving my foot to the brake. While I reacted quickly enough in these normal incidents, if I was braking to avoid an accident, I doubt I'd be so lucky.

31 Seats problem of the 2007 Mercury Mountaineer

Failure Date: 09/01/2014

Tl-the contact owns a 2007 Mercury Mountaineer. The contact stated while driving approximately 30 mph, the seat began to intermittently move backwards. The failure recurred multiple times. The vehicle has not been repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000. Kw.

32 Seats problem of the 2008 Mercury Mountaineer

Failure Date: 08/06/2014

Once the key is inserted the seat will move into position and the interior lights turn off. That is what should happen. What happens is my knee nudges the key the car will think I have taken the key out and will turn the interior lights on and move my seat all the way back to its out position. This can cause an accident because me feet no longer touch the pedals. As soon as this happened my air bag light came on but no codes are showing. This has happened multiple times and I am surprised there is not a recall for this since there are others suffering with this as well that I have seen posted in online forums.

33 Seats problem of the 2007 Mercury Mountaineer

Failure Date: 07/01/2014

Driver's seat moved back, dome lights illuminated (vehicles "easy exit" feature) while driving at highway speeds. Luckily I am tall enough to reach the pedals and wheel while the seat was moved back, but my wife is only 5' 4" and would have a hard time reaching. This is a serious issue that has been happening to many other Mountaineers as evidenced by the many reports on the internet. The cause is any slight bumping of the ignition switch or the steering column/wheel.

34 Seats problem of the 2007 Mercury Mountaineer

Failure Date: 05/23/2014

The contact owns a 2007 Mercury Mountaineer. The contact stated while driving various speeds the automatic driver's seat would move independently and the interior lights illuminated independently. This failure continued to occur for a month. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The contact inadvertently touched the ignition switch and the seat moved to its normal position. The contact was able to continue driving but the failure recurred. The vehicle was merged to the side of the road and once it was restarted it resumed normal operation. The failure recurred multiple times. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 73,800 and the current mileage 74,900.
