The contact owns a 2006 Mercury Mountaineer. The contact stated that the automatic fuel pump shut off would activate whenever fuel was dispensed into the fuel tank at any fuel level capacity. In 2009, the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the fuel valve was replaced. The similar failure recurred and the vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000. Updated 03/16/12

The Mercury Mountaineer will no longer take in fuel properly. Can not put in more than a half a gallon of gas at a time. Took it to a mechanic and they said there was nothing blocking the gas from entering the tank. He said it was the automatic fuel shut off that was installed in the vehicle. Have not replaced it yet.
The contact owns a 2002 Mercury Mountaineer. While attempting to place fuel in the vehicle, the nozzle stopped after three gallons and gas began spilling out. The fuel gauge indicated that the gas tank was empty. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and they performed an unknown repair. However, the failure continued. The failure mileage was 60,000 and current mileage was 78,140. Updated 04-07-08
the consumer stated the door ajar chime goes off while driving and the automatic door lock does not lock for 5 miles. Updated.
