One problem related to speed control linkage has been reported for the 1999 Mercury Mystique. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
While driving on the freeway at approximately 65 mph accelerator got stuck and would not return to the idle speed. In the process, the accelerator cable broke, causing the vehicle to lose power. Owner called the manufacturer, and was told that it was the driver's fault, and there was nothing else they could do.
