Air Conditioner Problems of Mercury Mystique

The air conditioning has failed twice in two years in a 2000 Mercury Mystique GS. While often considered a luxury rather than a safety item, I live in south florida were it is already reached 95 degrees. Last year a device in the dash had to be repaired. The mechanic said that this was a common problem with this model but that the company wasn't issuing a recall because not enough people complain. The new problem appears to be the air conditioning freezing up or with the blendor; the a/c is cold but barely blows, even when on high.

Dashboard is separating from structure and raising upwards in front of the windshield. As a result, air conditioner vents are not functioning properly. Dealer notified.

To whom it may concern, I have tried to get the air conditioner in my car fixed 6 separate occasion each about 2 months apart and I live in texas so an air conditioner is a must. I have spent 249. 00 each time to get the problem fixed and would like to know what I should do, I was told this was a very reliable car but it had a problem with the air conditioner when I bought it. The saleman that sold me the car, jim honeycutt, said that all I needed to do was take it to a shop to get the blower fixed at the lockhart Ford motor CO. Which I have done 6 times. Can anyone help me withthis, so I don't get ripped off anymore. Nlm.

Air conditioner indicator is not illuminating on dash when lights are turned on. Also, during the first week of purchase problems with accelerator pedal sticking . Consumer was aware that a recall had been issued for that problem, but manufacturer refused to repair due to VIN. Problems with radiator also occurred, and manufacturer refused to repair that problem free of charge because VIN# did not apply to that recall either. Consumer was unable to contact dealer. Dealer was no longer in business. Please provide further details.

Starting in June 2000, when a/c was turned on, an obnoxious musty odor was present, then on 12-09-00 with heater turned on and driving 60 mph to work, became very ill and disoriented, later taken by ems, on 3-27-01, when leaving for work and turning out of drivie way, car stalled in middle of street and wouldn't start. Took to dealer fuel pump was replaced, dash was warpped and had to be replace because adhesive was coming off back of dash, fumes or odors from any of these components may have caused me to become totally disoriented which caused me to hit a concrete barrier while driving.

This incident happened when it rained, if any water got inside of vehicle the air conditioner belts came off.

The car has been in the dealership service dept more than I seem to have it. . For many different problems. Needed a new engine at 23k,airconditioner broken at 24k,the car shakes and vibrates had it in the shop many times still shakes! rotors are pulsing again had them turned twice already,needs to go in this Aug for a peeling clearcoat correction on the passenger side 2 days to paint. . And the car only has 26k help! and Ford has ben terrible with dealing with problems and never provides loaners even when they had my car for 3 weeks!.

While going 35mph air conditioner blew out. Smelled like a fire. Had thought it was blower motor & brought one from dealer. Under the dash on right hand side, the plastic harness wire coverning had burnt. The electric wires on the blower motor had melted.

Some selections on the switch during heater and air conditioner modes will fail and cause a electrical smell and occasionally blue smoke.

The high/low switch for the air conditioner burned out the wiring harness. Consumer could see smoke from the vents in the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to dealership for this problem. The switch was replaced. The wiring harness is still damaged. Please provide any further details.

Mold in a/c system causes allergic reactions.

Consumer states that the center air conditioner grille broke while under warranty and has been waiting for parts for two years.

Vehicle emits strong odor when heating/defrosting/cooling unit causing nose bleeds,burning sensation in person eyes, nose, throat.
