Cruise Control Problems of Mercury Mystique

I have a 1998 Mercury Mystique. The vehicle recently began running abnormally. So in inspection of this, I discovered that the vehicles acceleration is being raised without me even touching the gas. I was on the road and my vehicle was speeding up on it's own and I couldn't figure out why. It seems as if the cruise control is constantly on or something.

While driving at 65 mph with cruise control engaged consumer attempted to hit brakes to disengage cruise control and slow down, but vehicle speeded up, lost control, and hit a guardrail. Consumer has yet to contact dealer.

Backing out of driveway and accelerator stuck. Indidual could not remove foot from pedal. It's possible she somehow turned on the cruise control and thats why she could not control the car.

While turning a corner car will begin to idle or coming off a ramp when ever turning very slow. Ak.

Brakes failed causing consumer to hit car in front of him resulting in injuries, possibility of cruise control not disengaging. Nm.
