I am the owner of a 2000 Mercury Mystique LS and the dashboard pad is delaminating and curling up on the passenger's side of the vehicle. I previously had the recall fix that was issued for it done and this was only somewhat successful as it did address the dash warpage around the defrost vent but now the dash has now begun to curl up at the baste of the windshield. Eventually it will continue to curl and begin to obstruct my view out of the passenger side of the windshield.

I have a 1999 Mercury Mystique that I purchased new. In apox. 2001, the dashboard came loose next to the windsheild and bowed up. The dash was replaced under warranty. Apox. 1 year later the dashboard did the same exact thing at which point the warrany was done, it still sits bowed up about 3 inches, thus impairing my vison while driving. I was recently told at my local Ford dealer that Ford knew of the problem, had a special kit to fix it and a program up to 2 years ago to repair the dashboard at no charge. I had no knowledge of this program when it was in effect and Ford did not contact me to let me know about it. As the program ended 2 years ago, Ford refuses to repair my dashboard, although they have admited to me that it is a manufacturing defect.

After the car was about 5 years old the dashboard warped. It came up about 3 inches and covers about 10% of the windshield. It also will not hold the defroster deflector trim so it had to be removed. I have not heard from Ford (Mercury)about this problem and feel it is their problem to repair and not an expense I should have to pay.

Vehicle has warpage of the instrument panel cover at the front edge of the instrument panel cover near the windshield, above the instrument cluster and around the glove compartment. The warpage prevents front defogger from working. This was taken up with the dealer who confirmed it was a recall, but will not be handled as one now. The dealer offered a cost to do the repair.

I purchased a 1999 Mercury Mystique GS from premier Lincoln-Mercury in collinsville, IL in April 2000. Last week I noticed that the dashboard was beginning to warp. The problem has grown steadily in the past several days, and the dash is now so warped that the front defroster ventplate popped off the dash. I know that Ford offered free repair or replacement from August 2001 through August 2002 pursuant to owner notification program 01b78. However, the terms of the program made it clear that no repair or replacement would be effected unless the problem was evident. Unfortunately, as my dash did not begin warping until very recently, Ford customer service reps and the service manager at the dealership have informed me that there is nothing that can be done. Ford was obviously aware that the dashboards were defective, else it would not have voluntarilty implemented onb 01b78. I cannot understand why those owners whose dashboards did not begin to warp until after August 31, 2002 should be distinguished from other owners whose dashes warped prior to August 31, 2002. I see no qualitative difference between the two. I regard this as a safety issue - the warped dash is interfering with my visibility, impeded operation of the windshield defroster, and might possibly interfere with airbag deployment. I am exploring the possibility of filing a class action against Ford, and would like to hear from other contour and Mystique owners who have had similar problems.

The dashboard and the dashboard frame just poped out two days ago. Its bending towards the divers seat. There is a 3 inches gap between the dashboard and the car's body itself. My concern is about the passanger's air . If it ( the dashboard) keeps bending like hat the the air bag could blow while I'm driving the car. For me it is a factory defect because the service advisor told me that he had several complains about the same problem. How could a three year old car have this kind of problem?.

I replaced the alternator last summer and I had to replace it again this summer. I had to replace my tail lights twice the brakes is always giving me problems. The window on the drivers side doesnt roll down. When it rain the floors get wet. I have a hard time putting it into gear and taking it out of gear. It stalls to cut on and drives really rough. I had to replace the tires numerous times. The speedometer went out and the temperture gauge as well. The ac dosent work and it takes a while for the heat to warm up car. Something need to be done about this.

In August 2001, I recieved a letter from Mercury/Ford motor stating "the cover on your instrument panel may warp". I immediately called the dealer and made an appointment to have the car checked on 09/22/2001. I have the letter that was sent to me and the invoice from the dealer stating "no warpage checked ok at this time". I was advised by joseph capezzuto to keep the letter for future if needed. In the middle of September 2002 I noticed that the black plastic piece was loose on one side. I pushed it in to place several times. It was not until October 2002 that I realized that it was warping with the panel began to raise. It is several inches high blocking the lower view of the windshield. I took it to a local Ford dealer and was advised to leave it that night for next day service. The next day I was told it was not covered due to the deadline expired August 31, 2002. All I want is for Ford to replace the defective part that they installed in my car in the first place. Thank you dt.

Recall 01 f 139 000/instrument panel:dealer, cavenaugh Ford CO. In blackrock, ar. Phone# 870/878--6251 refused to honor recall. The consumer never received the recall and the dealer stated that the recall expired August 31, 2002. The consumer states that the instrument panel has risen about 6 inches. The consumer is cocerned with this affecting the passenger air bag.

Entire dashboard has lifted up at the window/ vent and runs the entire length of the dashboard. Problem started directly under the front windshield but has progressed at a very quick rate. This has become a severe safety issue because it blocks part of my view while driving and is closely connected to the passenger airbag. The heater/air conditioner/vent on the dashboard does not work properly because of the severe curl. We are very concerned about the safety of the airbags and if they would deploy properly if at all in their location and condition. This is obviously a manufacturing defect but no one wants to honor the repair request.

I took my car to my mechanic after my check engine light was illuminated -- he told me that the computer indicated torque control slippage -- then took the car to mountain view Ford where the service advisor informed me that my transaxle pump needed replacing and that it would cost just over $1000 -- this car only has just over 32000 miles on it and I was also told that my 100000 mile powertrain warranty would not cover it -- this is a defect on the car and should be subject to a recall.

Engine check light was illuminated while driving out of town on christmas day -- the drive home was unsettling because of the constant jerking in the rear of the car. I took my car to my mechanic -- it was hooked on a computer which indicated a code 1744 indicating excessive slippage on the torque converter. I believe this should be reported because this is potentially a recall issue and this should be covered under my powertrain warranty. My car is barely 4 years old and has below average mileage.

I got in my car after work notice my windows just fog up got hom next day brought the car down to a garage they seem not intersted in it, but thought it might be the water pump and said it would cost over a thousand dollars all my warranys are up but are making payments on a car I can,t drive and belive it is a recall problem and would like to get it fix could please help also the power arm on the drivers side door let go also which caused my door window to carsh down and break that I paid about$385. 00 to be fix plus the cost of the glass.

Approx. 3 weeks ago, the original battery in my car was completely dead . It had showed no signs of losing power prior to that day. I bought a new battery and when I hooked it up the engine started turning over. The keys were in my pocket. As a result the starter died. I had the car towed to a local service station. They replaced the starter and a cracked serpantine belt. A few days later I was driving from NJ to PA when I heard a strange buzzing sound under my hood and I smelt the faint smell of something burning. I pulled over, turned off the ignition and looked under the hood. I did not see anything out of the ordinary. The car would not start back up. I had it towed to a near bye service station. Again the starter had to be replaced along with a burned relay wire and a battery. When I went to pick the car up, the new battery had died and we noticed some more burnt wires near the fuse box. I than had the car towed to haldeman Lincoln Mercury in allentown, PA 610-797-5005. Until this point I was reluctant to take my car to the dealer because they had been extremely unresponsive to past issues I have had with the transmission shifting delayed and hard and also with the check engine light and a engine timing issue. These issues happened right after my warranty expired and despite three seperate letters to Ford, the company did nothing to address my situation. I conveyed this entire story to the service advisor, mike siemons, at haldeman Lincoln Mercury dealership and he gave me the customer service number for Ford. On 2/10/01 I spoke with a customer service rep. Who stated that he would relay my report to a area account rep. Who would help remedy my problem. I was informed the rep. Would call me by the end of business today. So far he has not called. The dealership informed me today that I needed to pay $2k+ for a new wire harness and a 3rd starter in as many weeks. They attribute the problem to a battery that leaked acid. This isn't the proble.

My heater control knob for high,med,low only work in the low position. My rear brake light had a leak,allowing water to fill up and blow my light bulbs. There is a ticking noise in my dash as if my turn signals is running, but no flash on the indicators. When I signal to take turns it works fine but when not turning still makes clicking noise. Transmission went out in October 2000, I heard this is a common problem in my vehical. . Thank you for your time.

Entire dashboard has lifted up around the vent for the heater/air/defroster which runs the length of the front dashboard of the vehicle. Problem is located directly under the front windshield. It does cause a safety issue for me for two reasons. It blocks part of my field of view out the front window. Also the defroster does not vent properly to the window making it difficult to see out the window. I am also concerned about the safety of the airbags. Thankfully I have not had to use them however, I am concerned because the dashboard has become unglued. It is obviously a manufacturing defect and I am concerned that the instability of the dash panel may make the airbag refuse to deploy or deploy improperly.

Lighting---- 12 second light was not working when door was opened. Went to check to make sure bulb was not burned out by turning on switch when light fixture assembly broke and swung down almost hitting me in head. Dealership claims this is our fault not manufacturer defect. Again. Engine--- driving approx. 30 mph when check engine light came on. Went to dealership and after testing said the engine had not been getting adequate amount of oil for unknown amount of time. Complete engine replacenment. Argued about who was to pay for rental car. Waited. . . . Still no decision on rental car after two weeks. After one month found out company that makes this type of engine for Ford had broken its contract. Now no supplier was available. Waited. Had to order each individual part for engine replacement. After over two months. Car was fixed. . . . Supposedly. After one week car was in shop for oil and antifreeze leaks, broken lighting fixture, and gas mileage that has now been cut in half. Was told break in period was reason for poor gas mileage. Yet, every manual claims no break in period is necessary. Car still in shop after 5 days.

Engine cooling- temperature runs on the high range of normal. Engine - two bolts fell out of water pump pulley causing unknown vibration which in turn caused failure of serpentine belt which caused belt to fray into engine which in turn dislodged timing belt and caused oil light to come on. Dealer not "user friendly" during repair process which drug out the repair for a week. Engine has not run in the same fashion since the incident even though two different dealers have addressed the problem. Engine now stalls during initial start up almost causing engine to die entirely which has almost been the cause of several accidents. Tires- uneven and unusual wear on rear tires causing tires to wear prematurely. Windshield- unusal amount of chips perhaps caused by design and shape of windshield. Ignition- when removing key ingintion stays stuck into the steering column causing buzzer to sound. Did I mention that we will never buy a Ford product again especially since we have only owned this car since December 1999. ( dot number: 23912 ur tire size: p205/60r15 ).

Engine check light came on, independent service station detected possible problem with thermostat. Dealer replaced sensor, charged $211. 00. Two days later light came on again. Dealer detected thermostat, had to order part and replaced. Two weeks later temperature 20 degrees, car took over 30 minutes to heat up and ice formed on the inside of the windshield. Will take car back to the dealer.

I went to a dealership in glendora, CA and car was still on bumper to bumper warranty. They wanted me to pay a cost for them to look at the car. Therefore car wasn't fixed and now problem still persists. I will not pay for something that happened while under warranty. I can not remember the dealerships name but it was the biggest Ford dealership in glendora,CA. I have a witness who was with me when this occurred. No safety defect listed in the summary.

We have had a problem with this car since we bought it. First it was the driveshaft while we were traveling then it was the paint starting to crack, then it was the power steering going out when it was raining. Dealership had no idea what was wrong. Just found out when my husband took a/c switch out that it was burned. Called dealership when it first happenned even though we still had an extended warranty and wanted money out of us. We couldn't afford it. Please see if any of these are defects to where a dealer in west palm beach can correct the problem at no cost. Our warranty has expired at 60,000 miles. Car still vibrates and we have no a/c and it is hot here in florida. We would also like to get the paint taken care of us they knew about it from the beginning when we bought the car.
