One problem related to axle assembly has been reported for the 1998 Mercury Sable. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Vehicle design allows for the pcm to maintain the same rpm as if the transmission were in 3rd gear with the torque converter locked, this does not allow for deceleration when foot is off accelerator causing wear of braking components and extended stopping distances which are unpredictable.
