Vehicle starting making front end noise, difficult to steer, unsafe handling. The subframe, engine cradle, deteriorated due to corrosion in area of front mounting bolt breaking the bolt completely free and no longer providing structural support. Similar corrosion is observable on filler tube and vent tube to gas tank. Vehicle has been parked as it is unsafe to drive because of engine cradle. Estimate of repair is approximately $1000. 00.
The contact owns a 2000 Mercury Sable. While driving approximately 10 mph she heard a scraping noise when she drove over a slight bump in the road. The vehicle was taken to an independent repair shop where she was informed that the sub frame was covered with rust. Since the vehicle was repaired she mentioned that she could still hear squeaking noises while driving. The failure and current mileages were 52,000. Updated 12/10/10.
