Interior Lighting problem #1

Door locks keep popping up and down door light stays no panel.

Interior Lighting problem #2

The contact owns a 2001 Mercury Sable. The vehicle is experiencing electrical system failure. Whenever it rains, the fuse box on the driver's side door gets wet. The interior lights remain illuminated in the passenger compartment. The current mileage was 113,754 and failure mileage was 113,700.

Interior Lighting problem #3

- the contact stated that after driving 1999 Mercury Sable she had turned the vehicle off and the dome light continued to stay on for 40 minutes. The contact stated that this happened on 1/7/07 and was worried that this may cause a fire. The failure occurred after the vehicles power was off and the vehicle was locked.

Interior Lighting problem #4

: the contact stated the interior light in the cab of the vehicle remained illuminated. One end of the bulb was disconnected to save the battery. Also, the interior locks worked erratically. Sometimes the locks locked immediately after the vehicle has been started and other times it could be 15 minutes or longer before it would lock. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer nor the manufacturer was not alerted.

Interior Lighting problem #5

Consumer was complaining about brake problems. When pressing the brake pedal it went down to the floor, and brakes failed. Also, interior light stayed on.

Interior Lighting problem #6

The interior dome light appears and will not go off. The dealer is aware of the problem. The light stayed illuminated since it was broke. As a result, it impaired the consumer's vision and caused an accident. Vehicle was totaled. Consumer sustained head injuries and his pregnant fiance' was went into early labor.

Interior Lighting problem #7

Brakes shudder when applied, been cut down once already stopped for about 5000 miles then started again increasing in intensity as mileage climbed, also car will shut off for a moment or two causing loss of all power, and all dash indicator lights to come on, also had to replace brake light switch twice now.

Interior Lighting problem #8

The most recent problems are electrical in nature. First, all of the passenger power windows have failed. They can only be controlled by the driver side panel. Second, even though all of the doors are securely closed, the interior dome light will remain on between 20 seconds and several hours. There were occasions when the light would come on by itself while I was driving down the highway to work. An audible clicking noise could be heard from under the dash. The click is similar to the sound made when manually operating the switch. Third, this started on Sunday, 01/19/03, the headlights will turn on and off by themselves while the vehicle is off and the headlight switch is off. Additionally, with the car running and the daytime lights only, the highbeam indicator came on. When I turned the headlights on, the indicator went off. When I turned the headlights off, the highbeam indicator came back on. The highbeam indicator eventually turned off on its own within 5 or 10 minutes. Previous problems have included front end suspension related failures and an oil pan that sprung a leak in December 2001 at around 78k miles. The oil pan sprung another leak in December 2002. The service dealer attributed the leak to the same problem and another failure with the oil pressure switch. I agreed to the oil pressure switch repair and told them that if the oil pan gasket failed a 2nd time (original cause of leak in 2001), that it was due to poor repair work. They tightened the bolts to the oil pan. The winter weather has hampered my efforts to check for the leak. Although I no longer smell burning oil.

Interior Lighting problem #9

The water pump failed on a 1996 Mercury Sable because sand from the engine casting got into the water pump.

Interior Lighting problem #10

When trying to start vehicle, the key would stick, dash is completely inoperable, consumer could hear something running and vehicle would become very hot, dash did not light up, so there was no warning, vehicle made a grinding sound. Took to dealer, ignition has been changed twice. . Consumer states the power windows were inoperable, the radio did not work, there was no air conditioning or heat, the windshield wipers were inoperative, there was a noise coming from the flywheel, and the dashboard did not light up.

Interior Lighting problem #11

Dome light stays on even though doors shut, inhibits visual acuity. Fixed January 2002, for 290 dollars. Same day at Mercury eight other vehicles in with similar failure due to a recent mechanics article in the paper. Problem, set off factory installed alarm, and was intermittent for the last 6months.

Interior Lighting problem #12

Interior lights stay on-shows that doors are not shut when they are-also wiper motor failed.

Interior Lighting problem #13

Engine light would come on & then go off on its own while driving. Door/ dome & floor lights would remain on at same time. Do not go out. Ran down battery. Have taken to dealership.

Interior Lighting problem #14

Dome light always on due to door switch stuck. Very dangerous at night. Dealer said reoccuring problem in model and said I can fix it myself by removing door panel. Asked if I had other "electrical" problems. I said emergency (hazard) lights don't work. He said model has awful electrical problems and wanted to know if I use the automatic lights equipped on the car. Said I tried but it was faulty. Never bothered using it since. He gave me an estimation on repairs stating it is manufacture defect but I would have to pay for it.

Interior Lighting problem #15

The dash light has come on twice and it had to be serviced for problems with the sensor and a valve not working properly in the exhaust system. The linkage broke once in a parking lot. It had to be towed in on flatbed.

Interior Lighting problem #16

Airbag and abs lights on control panel come on intermittently. Happens when consumer uses power windows. When brakes are depressed, all dash lights go dim. Vehicle has not been involved in an accident.

Interior Lighting problem #17

Transmission shifts hard during deceleration/acceleration, particulary in stop and go traffic. Turning to the right results in growling noise from under hood. Interior lights stay on as does door ajar light and warning chime for leaving keys in ignition.

Interior Lighting problem #18

Interior lights stay on & when this happens the electronic door lock malfunctions at the same time.

Interior Lighting problem #19

Interior lights will not go out even after ignition is turned off. Problem repaired by itself after a while which, in turn, has produced another problem; delay feature does not work for the interior lights. Problems still exists. Provide further information.

Interior Lighting problem #20

When driving in wet conditions and making a right hand turn from a stopped position, power steering is lost and engine power is reduced. Also, dashboard warning lights illuminate. This loss of power and steering while entering traffic is alarming! it is obvious that the belt is slippling due to the moisture being sprayed up from the passenger side wheel well. I have inspected the belt and it is in fine condition. There is no manual adjustment for the belt tensioner (spring loaded). This problem started at 24,000 miles. I have searched the internet and have seen another similar complaint. I belive that this problem must be reviewed before someone loses steering while entering traffic and is killed! I realize that replacing the belt may make the problem go away, however, this is an obviou.

Interior Lighting problem #21

Interior system warning light comes on, indicating that the door is open when door is actually shut. Dealer has been contacted.

Interior Lighting problem #22

Intermittently when door is colsed and sometimes while driving interior light will stay on. Dealer has replaced wiring harness; however, problem still exists.

Interior Lighting problem #23

Door ajar light stays even though all doors are shut which causes dome and interior light to stay on. This can result in battery draining. When the door ajar light illuminates, the power window and power door locks fail.
