Outside lights will not go off need new stop lamp and air filter both parts were recalled in 2004 and should be replaced with new for free norma barsaloux 4859 n central chicago IL 60630 773-427-5055.
The wheel stiffens up while making a turn. Also when sitting still/stopped the wheel completely freezes up. The ball joints, barrings, and racket pinon was checked out by a mechanic and the conclusion he came to was he thinks it could be the power steering pump has faulted. This started in the beginning of November and currently is getting worse. Due to the car only having 16,000 miles and he heard of this happening to other Mercury's we were wondering if there is any sort of recall, and if there isn't if this problem could be noted for future reference.
Driving down road in my 2000 Mercury Sable ,stopped at redlight,tried to pull out,car would only rev up and not move. There were no signs that the transmission was going bad just up and quit pulling. We were. Stuck in middle of road ,with cars passing around us. We. Was in danger of getting hit. We had 100 miles to drive on freeway to get home. If this had happened then, we surely would have been hit by a passing car. I have researched this a lot and have found this a common problem with these cars.
This car only works whenever ir feels like it and took it to every shop n cant find the problem. . Been stranded so many tumes and the dealer aint gonna do nothing about it knowing that im still paying for it or trade me a car need help here.
I was driving along on a busy street at about 2:50pm and suddenly without any warning lights coming on, the transmission on my 2005 Sable failed. I could not get the vehicle into any gear, drive or reverse. The vehicle appeared to be locked into neutral. I became stuck in the middle of heavy traffic. I got out of the vehicle and with the help of two young men pushed the vehicle into a nearby parking lot. I had the vehicle towed to pat milliken Ford, redford, mich. They indicated it would take two days at least before they could advise me on the vehicle repair. The next day they called and advised me the transmission had to be replaced and it would cost $3400. 00. Based on my knowledge of the powertrain system in cars this estimate was excessive. I spoke to the service advisers in person at the dealership and learned they only have two transmission technicians. In my opinion it was easier for the dealer to replace the transmission that to repair it. Its also more profitable for the dealer. It is likely this situation exist all across the USA. I had the vehicle towed to USA transmission in livonia, mich. And I explained what had occurred as I was driving along that day. They immediate told me that based on their repair experiences with the Ford taurus and Mercury Sable, the torque converter was most likely the problem. They indicated their shop repairs a lot of taurus's and Sables for the same transmission problem that I experienced. After testing, they advised the torque converter was the problem. The actual repair cost was $295. 00 for the torque converter plus $50. 00 for trans fluid and $695. 00 for labor, total repair cost including sales tax was $1060. 00. Before leaving the shop I looked at my torque converter. They indicated the inner spline on the torque converter is wearing out. This sudden failure caused by the torque converter is a safety concern.
The blower motor on my 2003 Mercury Sable was sitting in a pool of water, ruining the motor. Caused by faulty design by Ford motor CO. Water gets into this area by improper design, allows water to reach area when the wiper cowl eventually warps, or when the a/c drain clogs or water leaking thru the firewall.
We were pulling out of a parking space, heard a "whoosh" and found the front right tire had deflated. Called aaa to have it pumped up or the spare put on. When the driver attempted to take the tire off, it was stuck. The coil spring had come loose and punctured the tire. The coil was sticking through the tire like a meat hook. We had to cut the rest of the rubber on the tire to release it. We had the vehicle towed and are awaiting the repair estimate. Doing research, it appears this is a long-standing problem on Ford vehicles, specifically the Mercury Sable and taurus. Recalls on 1999-2001 models were not extended beyond those years, despite similar problems. We feel we were very lucky in this instance, as the previous day, we had a 230 mile business trip. It could have been a disaster at 72mph.
The front driver's side coil spring fractured, dropping the front left side of the car and causing it to veer to the left. The end of the broken spring also pierced the inside sidewall of the almost new michelin tire and instantly deflated it. Meagan cleary suffered sprained wrists and a sprained back from the sudden loss of control of the 2000 Mercury Sable GS wagon. If the vehicle had been moving at a higher speed or on an interstate road, serious injury and severe damage would have occurred. The spring failure and damage was reported to Ford's customer relations center, heather nabb, Ford supervisor. This problem has already resulted in recall 04s17. I was never notified by Ford on this recall and I have owned the car since it was purchased new in 2001. It has always been registered in nh. The Ford crc is refusing to do anything to fix and repair the damage caused by this front coil spring failure! the car was first registered and driven in March of 2001 and the original nh title is dated April 4, 2001.
The contact owns a 1999 Mercury Sable. The vehicle was previously repaired according to NHTSA campaign id number 04v332000 (suspension:front:springs:coil springs). Currently, the rear springs failed and the dealer stated that there was no recall. The contact was informed to take the vehicle to another dealer because Ford gave them permission to replace the rear springs. As of December 2008, the dealer no longer repairs the rear springs and the contact would be responsible for paying for the repairs. The failure mileage was 91,000. I have a Mercury Sable 2002 which leaks water out of the blower motor onto the passenger floor board, also making the blower motor squeal.
My 2000 Mercury Sable was park at my place of business. . . . Leaving for home, started up the car (boom) smoke for under the hood. The plastic intake manifold cover exploded (top of the engine) . It's going to cost me over $600 to repair and replace. Has this problem happen to everyone else. .

The problem started with the smell of something burning coming through the air vents. This happens only on ocassion and when then vehicle slows down or is stoped. I recently have seen smoke coming from the vents with the smell. And more recently smoke coming from under the hood. Upon investigation I could not see any burning or smoke. The dealer so far has not been able to find the problem I'm afraid it may lead to a car fire or health problems from the polluted air entering the vehicle.

Abs braking light appears on the dashboard. The mechanic from the dealership told the consumer that the module had to be replaced. The consumer feels that Ford should be responsible for this part.
After several attempts to get power windows repaired I have finally been somewhat satisfied, although I still experience some sticking and annoying wind noise. I did ask ruston Ford, Lincoln, Mercury in ruston, la when I had the windows repaired about the front bumper paint peeling/flaking and was told that it was not covered under warranty and there were no recalls on the problem. I recently searched several auto repair and supply stores for some type of touch up paint and were told by several reputable sales people that they had seen several customers like myself with the same problem(peeling/flaking paint) on the same type of vehicle and was also told that I could order the paint throught the local Ford Lincoln Mercury dealership, but the problem would most likely reoccur. After my dealings with the ruston Ford, Lincoln, mecury dealership in ruston, la I have no desire to do any type of business with them ever again!, nor will I consider purchasing any Ford or Mercury vehicle in the future. I have owned 6 vehicles in the past 12 years: Chevrolet corsica Mitsubishi eclipse Chevrolet blazer Toyota forerunner Toyota camry -------of these six vehicles I can honestly say that my Mercury Sable has by far exceeded any problems and poor service experience I have ever recieved!!!! on August 15th I had my oil changed and was told by the technician that there was a hissing noise coming from my air conditioner which could be signs of yet another problem in the future. All I am asking for is a little old fashioned honesty and trust in someone that will tell me whether these problems are covered under a defect or recall claim. When consumer applies gas, the accelerator pedal will stick and then abruptly engage. The dealership did a tempoary fix for the problem. Please provide more details. Ts.
Had car in garage several times over 1 1/2 year for engine light, always code po3o3-misfire cylinder 3, dealer always found something wrong so it seemed, light contined to come on. Finally, at 81,000 driving on highway engine light flashes, lose all power, pull over, coolant blown all over engine, car towed to dealer, find it is blown head gasket, engine damage, need new engine. Told vehicle overheated several times, never once did it overheat while driving it. Find numerous problems with these cars and head gasket problems, aske questions of dealer and Ford motor CO. Never a straight answer, just "not your car" and "it's not under warranty, we can't help you" now owner must pay 3200 + to replace engine and add coolant bypass system to new engine because of problems with the engine coolant system. Ford motor CO. Taking no responsibility at all. Read numerous reports of blown heads, blown engines, coolant problems. Need anwers, please!!!! no one is cooperating at all.

While driving on highway at approx. 65-70 mph noticed engine check light and battery light coming on. Pulled over, turned off vehicle, and looked under hood. Noticed engine coolant overflowing onto ground. Tried to start vehicle, but engine would not start. Vehicle was inspected by dealer ,and informed consumer that engine had sucked up the water from the air filter which caused the engine head to crack. When using the romote control to open the trunk, it also unlocks the car doors. You have to remember that when you put packages in the trunk that the car doors are unlocked.

The seat belt always locks up on the passenger side front. It's a safety issue because the belt always jams and Mercury dealership won't do a thing since its no longer under warranty unless you got $200. 00. I heard Ford had similar problems on their other Ford/Mercury products, which my car isn't under recall. On the engine light matter. If you forget to put on the gas cap or raditior cap on or something very minor. The engine light will come on. I noticed this will happen also with my dad's taurus also. I have heard this happens to all 1995 or newer cars. Thing is most people see the engine light on and go right to the mechanic which can be costly in repairs if really the repair is not necessary because its something minor like a gas cap not tightened. Maybe the auto company's found a new way to rip us off? what do u think?.
Paint has peeled and now the metal is rusting around all edges of the hood. No safety defect.
