Engine Stall problems of the 1996 Mercury Villager

Two problems related to engine stall have been reported for the 1996 Mercury Villager. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Engine Stall problem

Failure Date: 01/19/2002

While driving on highway engine stalled without prior warning. Vehicle had to be towed. Then, at dealer mechanic said that problem was due to an engine blown that had cracked the block. Engine needed to be replaced. Please provide more information.

2 Engine Stall problem

Failure Date: 02/08/1999

Driving down the road at approximately 15mph engine stalls. Also when opening passenger's side door something triggers inside the lock mechanism, which causes the door to automatically lock.
