One problem related to other fuel system tank assembly has been reported for the 1998 Mercury Villager. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Gas guage continuously reads lower than actual. Reports 'e' when 1/4 tank of gas still left. Returned to dealer 4 times and they replaced the "sending unit" twice (after they told me they couldn't find anything wrong twice). Still no resolution. It's been like this since I purchased the vehicle at approx. 500 miles, and now I'm up to about 8000 miles. I have a 20 gallon tank and am averaging 20 miles per gallon. However, the guage reads 3/4 after only 50 miles; 1/2 after 150 miles; 1/4 after 225 miles and 'e' after 180-190 miles.
