The windshield wipers turn on whenever they feel like it. Sometimes they don't come on at all. There is no predicting when they will work or not work. . . It's at random. I reported this to the dealer. They said they contacted Ford and there is no "fix" for this problem. It is definately a safety concern to have wipers come on unexpectedly or not come on when needed.

When turning on rear windshield wipers consumer hears a humming sound. Then they vibrate, and hang down towards the license plate. Also, can't open rear door with the key, has to use power lock to open door. Consumer feels this is a safety defect because she can't see out of rear window.

Failure Date: 07/01/1998

Rear windshield wiper activated during a rain storm, swiped one way across the window and stopped. When finally was able to get it to move, and it dropped 6 inches below its actual resting spot. Also, difficulty getting shifter out of park, whether vehicle is parked on flat surface or slight incline. Finally, replaced air conditioner motor.

When radi/ heater or turn signal was in use windshield washer would squirt fluid on windshield. Also, overdrive would kick out, and brake lights on left would go out if lights were used.
