Electronic Stability Control problem #1

Was driving car on 18 July 2020 and power steering quit working and made steering difficult, also coolant fan,low speed and high speed stopped working same time as power steering quit. The asc light came on and it will not turn off. No blown fuses in engine compartment or by drivers kick panel. I was driving the car on a state road when this occurred.

Electronic Stability Control problem #2

My 2009 Mini Cooper S made rattle noise and the whole timing chain got replaced plus the thermostat house and water pump! the engine light still keeps on after trouble-shooting by my mechanics, which might be the computer issue which has to be figured out soon! the timing chain issue should be under fully-covered by manufacturer since too many Mini cooper owner have the same problem and paid thousand of dollars to fix it! my Mini is only about 55k miles and already has timing chain issue!.

Electronic Stability Control problem #3

The vehicle was hard to steer and smoke was coming from the engine. Took the car home, did not see flames, parked car in the driveway switched cars and left. Received a call from the fire department that my Mini was on fire and I needed to return to my house.

Electronic Stability Control problem #4

As soon as car begins to move the dsc error appears and the dsc no longer works. I have been told that the szl module that controls this has failed and apparently does this with other Mini's as well.

Electronic Stability Control problem #5

In April 2013 I was merging onto highway i20 with my children in the back of my Mini Cooper S 2006. As I was speeding up to merge onto the highway the car completely cut off. I veered over into a median in the middle of six lanes of high-speed traffic. The car had completely shut off, even the hazard lights. I was very lucky that the median was there and that I had not yet entered the main stream of traffic. The police came, then a friend. After about a half hour it restarted without power steering and he was able to slowly drive it, and he fixed a belt that he said had looked like it had blown out. About four times in the year prior to this the car had cut off, but not while I was driving; it shut down as I was pulling out of a parking spot but then immediately restarted. No one could explain it. After the April incident I went to the Mini cooper dealer and spent close to $3000 to ensure that the car was safe for my children. However, yesterday, 11/5/13, I was backing out of a parking spot and the car completely shut down. I called the dealership for assistance and they said they had never heard of this kind of problem and couldn't help; fortunately the car restarted about ten minutes later. However, I am extremely concerned that this car is unsafe and I have heard from an acquaintance who also has a Mini Cooper S 2006 who said this has happened to her, that something random happened with her car and it completely shut down while she was driving. She told me that there was a recall, but I called Mini corporate today, and was told there was no recall and referred me to NHTSA.

Electronic Stability Control problem #6

On July 3, 2012, I was burned on my calf by the exhaust pipe located in the middle back of the Mini Cooper S. I have a large half moon scar remaining. My daughter was also burned last year by the same vehicle 2 places on her calf. I have researched and see a report on the r56 model but was only pertaining to 2007-2008. If BMW did anything to resolve (shortening the pipe), it didn't work since I was burned like others by a 2010 model. I owned a 2004 for 7 years and never had an issue. Not that the possibility wasn't there, but it never happened. I checked to see if laser could remove the scar, but was told it would not. BMW must redesign and/or recall in order to provide better safety. I expect and know the risk of burn with a motorcycle, but never expect to get burned by a car (Mini).

Electronic Stability Control problem #7

2003 Mini Cooper S with low 70 thousand miles cough fire on January 31 2011 around 4 am in the morning. It was seen to start on the passenger side under airbag and car was completely on fire the front end under the hood and under passenger dash was told failure was abs.

Electronic Stability Control problem #8

After driving my 2007 Mini copper s, for several minutes the "brake" and dsc warning icons illuminate yellow. Once illuminated the signal cancel function stops working and wipers turn on autonomously when engine is stopped.
