Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Mini Cooper S based on all problems reported for the Cooper S.
The engine light kept coming on and the fan kept running even after car has been turned off. The gadge would read cold that hot. Took it to mechanic, the mechanic claimed it was a safety mechanism to keep car from over heating, had the car for 4 week and the car just shut off showing the same issue. The thermostat was not correct also. This was city in motion and stationary, once it cooled off it would start fine, but then just cut off, each time it stop I just had it towed which was 3 times rather than driving it , I just did not trust the vehicle.

In 2013 my Mini started to overheat. I had the fluids checked and everything was ok. I drove approx. , 10 miles and the car completely overheated, the oil light came on and the car smoked and almost caught on fire. I had it towed to the dealership (Mini northwest in fife wa,) they said there were no recalls and I needed a new motor and cooling system. I paid 7500$$ for a new engine installed by the Mini dealership in July 2013 at my own expense. On Dec, 23rd 2014 I drove my Mini approx. 12 miles and parked the car in the driveway. The car was not overheating, no warning lights came on, 15 minutes later the car had flames shooting out from the hood. Fire extinguisher would not put out the fire. The car then moved approx. 5 feet forward up against the house and became completely engulfed. The tires blew up the sunroof blew up and then the back window blew out. The car is a complete loss. Mini claims they have never heard of this before, yet there are several articles of the same thing happening to other cars, including a class action suit and recalls.

Over heating constantly no technical person knows of a remedy. Overflow tank blows out when car overheats constantly
. This seems to be a problem since the beginning no matter what year the car was built and never remedied. Why not a recall? not knowing what other damage this causes to the engine. This has to be a recall for the company to fix
it is a hit and miss fix??? this is a costly process and even in the forums on Mini it has been an ongoing issue. Front end fails all at the same time. (control arms, cv joints) steering becomes hard to control. Mini help.
