Four problems related to automatic transmission have been reported for the 1997 Mitsubishi Diamante. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The transmission was replaced because the car lunged forward when shifting.
Transmission/ brake failure.
Transmission has been replaced during repairs, and the vehicle sometimes revvs high and then dies out. Also, it is sometimes very hard to stop the vehicle,. The dealers cannot duplicate the problem.
Transmission shifts inconsistently, it jolts and does not always down shift, causing excessive wear to brakes as well as safety hazard when trying to stop the vehicle without lower gear assistance.
