2 Radiator problem of the 1997 Mitsubishi Diamante

Failure Date: 06/17/2007

Heater core randomly cracked one day, causing a tear-like spill of anti-freeze through the top of the radiator. Car was taken to a mechanic and we tried welding the cracks. Anti-freeze still spilled out and anti-freeze smell came in through air events and the liquid also burned, causing smoke to come out from under the hood.

3 Radiator problem of the 2002 Mitsubishi Diamante

Failure Date: 01/14/2005

This heater core leaks directly over computers which control the engine - and could cause it to act unpredictably or cut out altogether when driving. * anti-freeze contains ethylene gylcol which can cause serious respiratory damage * the leaking anti-freeze causes a film to form on the windshield, which can cause the windscreen to fog up suddenly, obscuring the view of the road and potentially causing a collision it will cost me more than 900. 00 to repair this item, plus the cost to replace my carpet and to clean the interior of my vehicle. Plus I do not know if I will everget rid of the smell and this will most likely lower the resale value costing me even more in the long term. I would expect this kind of thing to happen to a car that is more than 10 years or old. But in a car that was made in 2001 and has only 54,000 miles and was serviced regularly at the company's own dealer service center is absurd. I followed all the manufacturers service intervals and am being told that this usually happens when the coolant is not changed, this makes me question the dealers' and manufacturers' commitment to safety. I am saving the parts that are being replaced and will make them available for inspection if need be.

4 Radiator problem of the 1998 Mitsubishi Diamante

Failure Date: 11/30/2004

I own a preowned 1998 mistubishi Diamante LS. When the climate control, particularly the heater is engaged, the smell of anti-freeze becomes quite apparent. Dealer claimed 2 years ago when I bought it that it was the smell of the chemicals used to clean the car during "make-ready. " ethylen glycol fumes are toxic and this is a reoccuring defect in this model car from posts I have seen on various websites. I was later told that to fix this problem will cost close to $1000 since the car is out of warranty. Mitsubish issued a TSB addressing this problem, obviously they are aware of it. In addition, the windshield is covered with a film that cannot be washed off from this leak. A recall should be issued for this problem, I am not the first person to file this complaint on your website. Thank you.
