1 Steering problem of the 2002 Mitsubishi Diamante

Failure Date: 01/20/2005

January 12, 2005 one cold morning I noticed that the reverse gear did not go in as fast as it should it took like 1 minute to go into gear, when cold it would jolt before advancing in drive. Took it to the dealer, they did not find anything, so I picked up that same afternoon, next morning same problem. I took the car back on Jan 19, left it over night and they found it took a couple of minutes to go into gear, therefore, they decided to look at the transmission, the car has been at the dealer since 1/20 thru 2/7, after several discussions they have told me it is the heating core dripping on top of the computer damaging the sensors, today 2/8 the car would not go into gear at all. I have had grease with the seat belts, they had to be changed at 3600 miles, the tires (eagle) had to be replaced at 18,000mies, the brakes starting acting up at 6000 miles, the steering started vibrating at 12,000 miles. Bottom line this car is a mess, sucks and Mitsubishi does not want to be responsible for any of those problems, this is a big lemon!.

2 Steering problem of the 1999 Mitsubishi Diamante

Failure Date: 12/26/2002

Test drove a used 1999 Mitsubishi Diamante VIN # 6mmap47poxt003764 at the wayzata auto center bargain lot 1805 east wayzata blvd. , wayzata, mn 55391on or about 12/26/02. The car was showing approx 57,000 miles. While my wife was driving at highway speed she made a lane change and the car entered into an oscillation which caused me to question her driving and then drive the car myself. I repeated the exercise and noticed the vehicle had a tendency to enter into a pronounced oscillation any time a turn was attempted at cruise speed. We immediately returned to the dealer and pointed out what I considered to be a serious safety issue to the salesman (denny hopkins). I later wrote an email to noah joseph at the village chevolet dealership who originally advertised the car in traderonline. I have yet to get a response stating they looked into the issue. By the way, I'm a qa auditor, mechanic and pilot, comfortable with the personality quirks of most vehicles. While bothersome and a deal killer for us, I feel this issue would be a serious problem for inexperience drivers in less than ideal road conditions. I have yet to get a response from the dealership saying they either investigated or took action on the problem.
