Four problems related to wheel rim have been reported for the 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Rims bend to easily. All four rims bent. All four tires had to be replaced due to excessive rubbing, because wheels couldn't be balanced due to the bending of the rims.
The 17" Mitsubishi Eclipse wheels bend under normal driving conditions. On three different occasions I have experienced serious problems with these wheels. These problems have also caused me to buy new tires when it might not have been needed.
17 inch aluminum stock rims are bending under normal driving conditions. Dealer has been contacted. Please provide any further information.
The left front right front tires blewout on highway due to the rims cutting into the tires, causing tread separation. Dealership was aware of problem.
