I have experienced multiple problems with my 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse. I assumed they were all just normal wear and tear until my most recent incident - the cover to my shock, passenger side, completely rusted exposing my shocks and allowing them to pop up, denting my hood and remaining exposed while I drive. Since this is such an unusual problem, I began investigating the other issues and they are all related to multiple recalls issued on my vehicle. I contacted Mitsubishi to alert them to the defect(s) as well as encourage them to alert other owners of the same model. It took them less than a week to decide not to investigate my car. They haven't even seen the damage. I offered to send photos and they were declined. They didn't even want a licensed Mitsubishi dealer to inspect my car. I think their lack of interest and concern is irresponsible and dangerous.
Cheap dashboard of a 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse has over 5 cracks on it. The cracks are growing and someday it can just fall apart and result in danger while driving.
Dashboards on the Mitsubishi Eclipse model years 2000-2005 have a tendency to crack as they are made of plastic. No force is applied that makes them crack, simply heat from the sun or cold temperatures. My dashboard and many thousand others have several cracks and this problem has not been addressed by Mitsubishi.

2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse with a shock rupture due to rust. Consumer states that it is rare that rust in that amount happen on the interior of the vehicle. She states that the manufacturer was not going to investigate her claims. The consumer discovered 3 recalls for her make, model and year for her vehicle. The consumer stated she had already experienced the failures of the recalls. The column switch was replaced because the unit would not self-cancel nor would it cancel manually. The switch would not reset in an off position which caused the lights to remain on once the vehicle had been turned off. The steering wheel vibrated frequently, even when traveling on a straight highway. The consumer also had repeated problems with the engine not starting and always assumed the problem was the battery which the consumer had replaced multiple times. The low oil pressure lamp illuminated frequently, even when the oil was not low. The recall was only for v6 engine's, however the consumer experienced the same problem with her 4 cylinder engine. Recall numbers 99v333001, 99v305001 and 00v225001.
