The vehicle was included in the recall associated with NHTSA campaign id number 10v065000 (fuel system, gasoline: storage: tank assembly: filler pipe and cap). The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was told the vehicle was fine and did not need to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. Approximately 1 week later, the check engine light began illuminating on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the contact was told there was a hole within the fuel filler pipe. The vehicle was taken back to the authorized dealer where the contact was told the fuel filler pipe was severely corroded but the hole was in the fuel tank, not the fuel filler pipe. The vehicle was repaired but not under the recall. The failure continued. The failure and current mileages were 134,429.

The recall notice stated that it would take an hour and thirty minutes to repair the vehicle. The dealer informed the contact that the repair would take up to 6 hours to complete and possibly into the next day. The contact stated that the manufacturer was misinforming customers in the recall notice. The failure mileage was 38,684.
