Fuel Delivery problems of the 2000 Mitsubishi Galant

This car was leaking gasoline. The fuel pump housing seal had to be replaced. It took two days and a phone call to the service manager, to get Mitsubishi to find the problem and fix it. I believed the car to be unsafe. It was parked in my garage, after I filled the tank. I was out of town for appx. 24 hours, and returned to find my house filled with gasoline fumes, which took over a day to dissipate. I called Mitsubishi, and had the car towed in. They told me they'd never had reports of this type of problem, but when they attempted to get the part to fix the car - the part was on national back order.
