Consumer drove vehicle to work and parked. Approximately 1 hour later vehicle caught on fire. Fire dept advised consumer that fire was electrical in origin.
While driving 45-50 mph smelled smoke. Consumer applied brakes, and they faded. Transmission slipped. Consumer pulled over, and front of vehicle burst into flames. Fire department put out fire, vehicle was towed to dealer. Factory representative determined Mitsubishi was not responsible. There was recall000295001 on power steering tube that could cause a fire, but this vehicle was not affected. Vehicle was totalled, no injuries.
While traveling approximately 45 to 50 mph smoke started coming from front end of vehicle. Upon examination by dealership wiring harness and computer system had burned up. No determination was made as to the cause of problem. Please provide any additional information / documentation.
Consumer was traveling about 45mph on highway and without prior notice smoke was inside of vehicle. He managed to run out of vehicle and it went up in smoke. Fire department was called out. Vehicle has been totaled.
Consumer was driving down road when a fire ignitied in engine. Consumer applied brakes , but they were inoperative. Had to pull emergency brake which caused loss of control ,vehicle spun around before it stopped. Consumer jumped out . Wiring and wheel covers, basically everthing was melted. The cause for the fire could not be found. However, the consumer firmly believes that something was not installed correctly at factory that caused the five month old vehicle to burn.
While driving at approximately. 50 mph driver noticed smoke coming from underneath the hood,. Attempted to pull over, but brakes were inoperative. Driver had to pump brakes in order to slow down and stop. Driver got out of vehicle and noticed flames coming from underneath vehicle, burning grass surrounding the area, and destroying/ melting all wiring, and all of front end. Vehicle was a total loss.
