2008 Mitsubishi Lancer evolution mr cabin fuel fumes / strong smell. When air temperatures rise above 100* the car has a strong fuel smell, to the point of not being able to safely drive the car due to the fuel smell inside the passenger cabin.

2 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 06/10/2011

The smell of raw fuel engulfing the inside of the car making it near unbearable to drive without feeling dizzy or sick. This can't be safe. No visible leaks and the dealer cannot figure out why this is happening. This is unsafe and I'm assuming can lead to a fire. It can also incapacitate the driver and passengers due to the fumes which could cause an accident if this happens while the car is in motion.

There is a strong fuel smell in the cabin when I am on the highway doing 70mph, I have tried to check it out but there are no apparent fuel leaks, my mechanic suspects the evaporator system.

4 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 04/21/2010

2008 Mitsubishi Lancer. Consumer writes in regards to throttle body problems and other failure issues with vehicle. The consumer stated the vehicle broke down and had to be towed to the dealer. They dealer cleaned the map sensor and throttle body and charged the consumer. The consumer stated the vehicle was still under warranty, and he shouldn't have been charged. Mitsubishi stated the consumer would not have to pay for the cleaning, but he would have to pay for the towing charges. The consumer then learned from the dealer, the map sensor problem was a manufacturing defect. The consumer stated he experienced the problem on two other occasion, where the dealer had to send a mechanic out, to clean the map sensor because the vehicle had broke down and would not start. The consumer stated the problem has become worse, where the engine light stayed on 98% of the time and it would take 4-5 times before the vehicle would stop cutting off.

5 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/10/2009

Car began to sputter when stopping/accelerating and in reverse; car would appear to stall out.
