1 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2018

The car started flashing a warning sign and loosing power. When trying to accelerate it stops. Eventually it puts the car into a limp mode and will stall altogether. This happens any long distance trip. My car year and model is not the only Lancer being effected by this computer glitch. It’s very dangerous due to the fact that the cars loosing power while you’re driving. It doesn’t matter if you’re in the middle of the highway it will just stop working. All research I have done points to an error within the computer that tells the car when to cool down the transmission. I have seen many blogs, forums and actually know another Lancer owner who’s model is a 2012 and has the exact same issue. I don’t know why this hasn’t been addressed yet when it’s affecting more than just one Lancer here or there. Bad for the engine bad for the transmission bad for my travel. And the worst part is that any mechanic is unable to detect the issue unless the car is actively coding. I’ve had this car for 3 years now and I feel it’s a big safety concern and needs to looked into. First occurrence was on a trip down to a local lake car stalled on the side of a highway this was in 2018. Now any trip further than over 30 miles or more the car will throw this code it looks like a gear and it has a exclamation point in the middle. It’s progressively getting worse and effecting the over all performance more each time I wish to travel. Please find out why this issue is occurring in multiple years of the same model of car because it inconvenient and dangerous. I would hate for myself and my kids to get killed in an accident due to not being able to get out of the way of a bigger vehicle or a truck.

2 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/15/2014

All electrical shuts off when car turns on. "check!" and "service engine!" notifications appear in dash, but disappear within seconds. Car can be idle or moving while electrical panel shuts off. Brought car to Mitsubishi for diagnosis, showed them a video of the dash and headlights turning off as if car is stalling, while rpms do not reach zero. They were unable to diagnose problem and said I will likely pay a lot of money to have it looked into and fixed, because they will have to trouble shoot on my dollar. This is very dangerous to drive in the dark because headlamps shut completely off while car is having seizure. Radio also turns off.

3 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/15/2014

The contact owns a 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer. The contact stated that the abs and acs warning indicators were illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was unknown.

4 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/27/2014

Tl- the contact owns a 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer. The contact stated that the recall notification was received more than four weeks ago and the contact was not able to schedule the recall repair. The dealer indicated that the part was not available for the two recall repairs. The contact was included in NHTSA campaign id number: 14v562000 (engine and engine cooling) and 12e012000 (exterior lighting). The contact also called the manufacturer who indicated that the part was not available. The contact in conclusion had no estimated timeframe to determine when both recalls will be performed. The manufacturer and dealer were notified several times of the safety concerns to schedule the appointments. Dyd.

5 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2014

When hitting the volume control/hands free system buttons on the steering wheel they get mixed up. If I hit volume down it triggers the hands free system so I have to hit volume up which works in order to get the volume down button to finally correct itself. It's only just started doing this within the past couple months.

6 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/12/2012

Requested dealer to repair under warranty a problem which can cause vehicle to become inoperable at temperatures of 20 below zero as documented in Mitsubishi TSB-10-13-002. Was advised by dealer and later by Mitsubishi customer relations that this would not be covered by warranty since the problem has not occurred on this specific vehicle. I recommend that this TSB be considered for a possible recall in those parts of the country where the temperature regularly goes to 20 below zero. Having a disabled vehicle at that temperature is a safety issue.
