1 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 01/12/2024

The front subframe(cross member) blew out, due to excessive corrosion. Causing the control arm to dismount as well as separation of the cv axle from the transmission, while traveling down the road losing complete steer of the vehicle. Luckily I was coming to a stop sign and not traveling on the highway. My vehicle was last inspected in April of 2023 with no warning signs of there being an issue. I've recently done some research and gathered information regarding models from 08-10 Mitsubishi Lancers having the exact same issue. I contacted my dealer about the issue and they stated there are no current recalls on my year vehicle. Although they also started that the part number on my subframe is the same part number that failed on the 09-10 models. There should be a recall on 2012 Mitsubishi Lancer subframe(front cross member) I hope this issue is resolved! I was fortunate to not have been injured! my vehicle has not currently been inspected after the accident because I had it towed back to my house after the accident because I was unsure what to do about the situation. The vehicle is available to be towed to be inspected if need be. A police officer did pass me and checked to make sure I was alright while I was stranded in the middle of the road while waiting for a tow truck.

2 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 01/05/2021

The ayc/acd pump failure.

3 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 05/05/2020

While driving on the highway I went to accelerate to keep up with my traffic and my car was slow to acceleration. While still driving I went to get off the highway, took an exit and after stopping at stop sign while my foot was on the gas to go the car didn't respond to go but then jerked and accelerated very slowly. There's was a recall on the cvt transmissions for Lancers but years 14-16 for this same issue but because my car doesn't fall into that recall my dealership told me there was nothing I could do. I've been driving the vehicle and this issues is only getting worse to the point where after driving about 60mph causes an transmission overheating alert within 10-15 mins on the highway and along with slow acceleration while driving on the highway and also stopping at stop signs the car does not accelerate right away.

4 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 11/02/2018

The awd diff. Actuator pump is out.

5 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 03/31/2017

After 53000 miles, my hydraulic unit failed, which will cost me about $2000 to fix, I'm not sure why such unit exposed to the environment with no protect shield, feels they designed it to fail in 5 years.

6 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2017

El carro cuando va subiendo cuesta largas no accelera se queda sin fuerza y dice que baje la velocidad si el solo lo baja y no permite acceleral y el motor tiene un ruido queno ES normal ni lo hacia antes.

7 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 12/12/2016

The contact owns a 2012 Mitsubishi Lancer ralliart. While driving approximately 20 to 65 mph and changing lanes, the contact attempted to downshift from sixth to fifth gear; however, the gear shifter failed. The instrument panel displayed "transmission service, check engine light". The vehicle was driven to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the fork shifter fractured. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000.

8 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/24/2014

2012 evo x gsr - from jba Mitsubishi (glen burnie, MD). At 31,651 miles - I was in a fast-food drive thru line ordering breakfast. That is, 0mph. All of a sudden, I hear a chime and see my instrument panel flash. My driving-mode/status light (which shows tarmac/snow/gravel) had turned off. Another light illuminated, saying '4wd service required'. My evo is 100% bone stock, no mods/tune. I call around and do some research. I check my fluids, tires (all 4, brand new, properly balanced), etc. A little while later, I discover that it is my ayc pump. This is a known issue with evo's and needs to be recalled. Luckily, mine went out just before warranty. Otherwise, it'd cost between $2500-$3k to fix on my own dime. I live in MD - we get snow every single year. Apparently, the salt and weather changes can cause corrosion and damage to the pump. Mitsubishi offers a replacement (with 1yr, 12k mile warranty). But I've seen folks in canada who burn thru 3-4 pumps a year. Meaning just because of this 1 part, an evo is a terrible car to have in cold-weather states. Mitsubishi needs to recall this part - or offer to repair free whenever the pump goes out. Even with proper preventative maintenance - I do not want to pay $2500+ every time the pump goes out.

9 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 10/12/2012

The 2012 Lancer ralliart was purchased new. It is equipped with a tc-sst(twin clutch- sportronic shift transmission). As long as I can remember owning the vehicle, it constantly "slips" into gear. Whether the car is in automatic mode, or in manual mode. The sounds coming from under the hood constantly make me cringe. At time of failure, I was driving 55-60 mph. At a steady cruise in 6th gear (automatic mode) the clutch randomly engaged, disengaged. It then slipped in and out of gear like a computer with a virus was operating the car. I then creeped to a stop followed by a "service transmission required" alert on my display. I then limped my car home, called a tow truck and the car is currently at the dealership where it is undergoing a full $13,000 transmission replacement. Car currently has 32,xxx miles.

10 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2012

The car is very difficult to shift. From stop to about 40 mph, the shifting feels like doesn't want to go into gear. I was told this is normal. The car seems to shift a lot better at higher rpms; probably due to less of a synchronization problem. Miss shifts cause delay in acceleration.
