2009 mitsubshi Lancer ralliart pulls hard to right at all times. Took to dealer they said theres nothing they can do about it. Took to a suspension shop said manufacture set camber is off. I have went thru my third set of front tires in only 45000 miles. I believe this should be investigated for safety.

Removed foot from accelerator to begin braking for yellow light while driving approx. 25 mph, as soon as I applied the brakes, the car surged forward as if at full throttle and did not stop accelerating until the impact from the collision. The sudden, unexpected acceleration happened two times before, each time right after I lifted my foot from the accelerator to begin braking. The accelerator had not (not) been fully depressed prior to the unexpected acceleration in any of the above incidents. Attempt to brake before collision was unsuccessful;I had recently replaced front brake pads again (after 5,000 miles) because right front brake caliper was not releasing, right pads.

I have a 2008 Lancer evolution. The service required light for the all wheel drive system came on. I only had around 59000 miles on the car when this happen. I took it to the dealership and they said it was an internal fault in the awc pump. They said it would cost $2250 plus tax to replace. So I called Mitsubishi to see if they would replace the pump for free since it is a safety concern. They said no since my 3 year or 36000 mile warranty was up. A lot of evolutions in colder climates have been having this same problem. The cold weather makes the fluid in the awc pump to thick and it causes it to burn up. Without the pump working the all wheel drive system is not functioning right and may cause a wreck if it locks up. Mitsubishi even released an awc ecu reprogramming flash to try to keep the pumps going out in cold weather. I live in virginia which was one of the states they listed for the reflash. They know this is a known problem but refuse to replace my pump with the new model. This is their fault. I shouldn't have to pay for a new pump.

This is a complaint I have seen on other websites from thousands of other Mitsubishi Lancers from 2000- 2005, but mainky in the 2002 model range. The heater/air conditioner controls sieze up and either the cable freezes up and the control knob snaps off on the temperature controls. To me this is a safety concern not necesarily for the use of the vechicle, but rather for the health of the driver and those who who ride in the vechicle. They could freeze in the winter or get heat stroke in the summer.

A/c heater nob broke off after switching it from cold to heat.
The heating/ cooling knob will not turn to heat. Defrost is minimal, which obstructs view when driving in inclement weather. Heat in car is absent, requiring blanket to be used to keep driver warm in cold chicago winters. Knob mechanism needs to be recalled. This is a mechanical design error. Materials involved are plastic and metal. Without heat for defrosting and maintaining a comfortable cabin temperature, driving safety is compromised. Please issue a recall, thank you.
The ac/heater controls on the dash, the knob was very hard to turn to change the air from hot to cold. The knob has now broken off. I am finding this is a common issue and a very expensive fix. We took the car to service center and they will adjust the lever as the seasons change.
1. Driving 2. Irritating ticking from passenger side of engine bay. Seems to cause wear and tear on belts on engine. So far no consequences as belt hasn't broken. 3. No part have been replaced as of yet. 4. In short it seems almost all evo ix's are affected by this belt wear on the idler pulley, power steering pulley, and possibly others. I just don't want to see one of these belts break on this performance turbo car at high speeds. . . Could cause many injuries in my opinion. Keep and eye out for many many others to send in a report in the next few days on the evo ix's as I will be posting up a link to this site on our main community site.
The heater knob on my Mitsubishi Lancer was hard to turn from hot to cold from the very first time I got the car with 65000 miles. One day the knob broke. I went to the official dealer and they told me they had to replace the entire heating dashboard piece and I paid over 400. 00. The knob even after this was not easy to turn and after a year and a half broke again. Now I find that many other people had the same problem. The dealer never mentioned this or offered any alternate solution when I mentioned the knob was still hard. I can't defrost my windshield since I cannot change the temperature. My windows get all steamy and I can't see while driving. If I try to reach under the dashboard while driving to move the plastic part that connects to the heater is hazardous since I have to bend and try to reach under my dashboard. This should be a recall!!.
The hvac(knobs on the dash for ac unit) temperature knob has broken off. In the previous months it became increasingly more difficult to turn from hot to cold. Checking online I located a temporary fix involving reaching under the dash near the gas pedal and pull/pushing the flap that control warm/cold. Not being able to actively change the temperature is a hazard in florida as we can suddenly change from sunny 'windows down' weather to torrential downpours with windows fogged. Likewise my niece and nephew cannot ride with me on our 'hot' days as the temperature could be detrimental to their health without a working ac unit. I have been unable to replace the knob or the wire that runs from it to the flap as this unit is damaged on all the 'used' hvac units at the car lots I have checked for parts.
1/ at about 207000 miles check engine light came on. Dealers diagnosis and 2 other repair shops : catalytic converter has to be replaced. Cost for this job: $ 1500. I did not replace catalytic converter and was performing normally. This happened first time in my life, that catalytic converter gives up during the life of the car. 2/ at 246,570 miles while vehicle was on, would not go into gear. Dealers diagnosis: car needs clutch assembly and resurface flywheel and clutch slave cylinder. Cost for this repair: about 1,200 plus tax again 1st time happened to me that car needs clutch assembly work with slave cylinder during the live of the car. 4/ while they checked the car for gear problem they recommended to me to replace timing belt: cost $ 723 plus tax and replacing valve cover gasket: cost $ 264 plus tax I believe they ripping people off, because while replacing timing belt they have to remove valve cover and they should not charge 2x for removing valve cover. This was estimated by Mitsubishi-Mazda dealership in san bernardino, CA. I'm questioning their prices and ability to properly diagnose and do this repairs based on the statements they made and their prices. After every time this car is serviced at Mitsubishi dealer this car have more problems: screws missing, broken parts, engine check light comes on. I need from Mitsubishi motor of north America inc. List of good repair facilities where the car can be repaired not sabotaged, where they have knowledgeable technician not monkeys. I had a few cars, but never happened that catalytic converter or clutch needed to be replaced during the life of the car, or I had to spent few thousand of $$ for repairs while maintaining the car properly during it's life.
(1) the temperature control on my 2003 Lancer ES was always a bit hard to move. 2) now the switch has gotten so hard to control that it feels almost as if it does not work when you finally place it in the right position. 3) I took it into my local dealership maywood Mitsubishi, NJ where the vehicle was purchased and they said it is a known issue and wanted to charge me 700 dollars to fix it. This is a defect in the vehicle that should have been made a recall. I know for a fact the Lancer from 02-04 has had this same issue. Mitsubishi does not resume responsibility for their faulty switches. This goes to show how much they "back" their problems.
After purchasing my vehicle I noticed two things, one that is troublesome and the other a major inconvenience. One day after stepping out of my vehicle while the vehicle was running with the a/c on I heard a loud rattling sound every time the a/c kicked on. I took it into a dealership while I was having them check my temperature control knob (the other problem) and told them about it. They just put grease on the knob and told me that the a/c is supposed to sound like that. Well, just this last fall my a/c compressor (I think it is the compressor) blew out and started smoking. I thought that the freon was empty but it is not. Is this legitimate for a complaint?.
I turned the hot/cold dial to hot one winter morning and the cable snapped there for the heat did not work anymore. I took it in for repairs, they replaced the cable $300 later it snapped again 2 months later. No the Mitsubishi dealership is telling me that its the heater box that needs to be replaced and its going to cost me $2000 to have it replace. So now its November 15 and I don't have any heat!.
Consumer complaint regarding the need for mud flaps on 2005 Mitsubishi evolution viii Lancer. The consumer stated without the mud flaps, the tires stick out 1. 5 inches past wheel wells. The consumer stated when a right turn was made, or a speed bump was hit, a strange noise would emit from the vehicle and then a pop sound could be heard. The dealer told the consumer gravel was stuck into he calipers, shock towers, brakes and springs and it would work itself out. The dealer recommended the consumer take the vehicle to a car wash, but the problem continued after the vehicle was washed. The tires were replaced because they were so badly worn.

Problems with 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer.
I am a chemically sensitive individual having been poisened 9 years ago. I did not recoginize the hazards because the dealership complied with my request to not detail car with chemicals, but the off gassing of the plastics, vinyls, carpets, materials and ? (I do not know if I have over looked something else) has caused muscle pain, headaches, nausea, fatigue, passing out at the wheel, weakness in my limbs, internal cramping and eczema on my hands. The seat is totally incorrectly designed for shorter people and the adjustment in the seat does not work to compensate causing extremely lower to mid back pain so severe it causes difficulty in walking, sitting and nausea. The dealership and the manufacturer are not willing to take responsibility for the inadequate, unsafe condition of the product.
Ecu registers p0300 (multiple cylinder misfire) obdii error code. Error code is thrown, ses light comes on, and car stumbles until throttle is released. This typically occurs at light throttle or cruising (steady) throttle. It can occur under load (acceleration) but never occurs on deceleration. Known facets of this problem thus far are: 1) Mitsubishi is aware of 2 issues: sticky (dirty) injectors and a transmission harmonic resonance, which throws the knock sensor 2) the car is undriveable when this occurs until the throttle is released. 3) my vehicle in particular is almost 100% undriveable on the highway due to this problem recurring every 10-15 seconds during any sort of highway driving period. 4) it _is_ a safety issue as I have had this occur under light acceleration attempting to merge into traffic, only to be met with what feels like a wall when the error code is thrown and the ecu retards the timing because it is detecting knock (which is not actually occurring). 5) Mitsubishi (mmna) is apparently aware of an ecu reflash fix for this problem (the harmonic resonance issue, not the injector issue). They have claimed that the flash will be out "within 3-6 weeks" since November 2003, and it is still not out nor available. I have been told it is held up in epa certification. This problem has occurred for me literally hundreds of times, and no dealership has been able to fix it because Mitsubishi will not authorize any warranty work on my vehicle for this problem, citing that "a fix is already on the way, wait for it. ".
Paint swirls and scratches easily. Car has less than 1500 miles and has already acquired several scratches in paint.
Paint chips and cracks easily; tree sap and bird droppings eat through paint even if washed off within a few hours; this should not happen on a 6-month old vehicle.
Request for information on any recalls involving 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer. Mr.
Paint is chipping in front. Paint all over the car is very easily chipped, scratched etc. I have never had a car with such a lousy paint job. Dealership says it driving conditions that are causing the paint chips in the front. But your fingernail can scratch the paint all over the car. It's worthless.

Paint cracks and chips easily; tree sap and bird droppings eat the paint even if washed off the same day; paint is very thin.
2004 Mitsubishi lance customer has concerns about the dash design. ** the consumers daughter was involved in an accident where a Jeep grand cherokee hit her. There was a very long, large piece of the plastic decorative dashboard that the consumer believed acted like a whip which came from the passengers side of the car and struck the consumers daughter in the head.
Paint chips easily on any panel. Dt.
