Three problems related to vehicle speed control have been reported for the 1999 Mitsubishi Mirage. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Unintentional excelleration when applying the brakes at very low speed.
Since purchase of the vehicle, surging forward while driving or braking has been an ongoing problem. The first occurrence was within the first 30 days of purchase. Dealer worked on car and indicated problem was corrected. The car has repeatedly had the problem, despite multiple trips for repair. Most recent service (August), we were advised there was a computer chip that needed to be reprogrammed. The car was returned, allegedly repaired, however, the problem continues. This vehicle is frequently driven with a small child as passenger and this type of safety defect is certainly problematic. We have gotten no satisfaction from the dealer of purchase nor from a different Mitsubishi dealer in town. Coincidentally, while in for most recent service, another customer was there with the same problem and had also purchased her Mirage from ricart megmall.
When attempting to accelerate and upon depressing accelerator pedal vehicle hesitated and lost all power, which could lead to an accident. Also, noticed a cranking noise when accelerating. Consumer has contacted dealer, dealer unable to determine the cause. Please provide any further details.
