The contact owns a 2003 Mitsubishi Outlander. The contact stated that while driving at 45 mph, the contact depressed the brake pedal and the seat belt retractor mechanism fractured. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 164,241.

2 Seat Belt problem

Failure Date: 05/10/2013

The contact owns a 2003 Mitsubishi Outlander. The contact stated that while driving 30 mph, the seat belt failed to unlock. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for a diagnosis but they were unable to duplicate the problem. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 200,000.

3 Seat Belt problem

Failure Date: 01/05/2008

This is for a Mitsubishi Outlander 2003. There was a lot of water under the seats, don't know how, and the service engine light is on due to bad oxygen sensor and there might be corrosion in the electrical system, this can cause a fire, rear stop light stop working, the seat belt tensioner can go bad. Took the car to the dealership, and the manufacturer said that I only have 1 recall when the NHTSA says that there's a recall for this,=NHTSA campaign number 03v194000.

4 Seat Belt problem

Failure Date: 11/20/2007

The contact owns a 2003 Mitsubishi Outlander. While driving approximately 30 mph on normal road conditions, the rear brake lights activated without the brake pedal being depressed. The failure occurred spontaneously whenever the vehicle was in operation. In addition, the srs warning indicator illuminated on the instrument panel and remained lit until the engine was turned off. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnostic testing and they stated that the failure was related to the electrical system. The vehicle was previously repaired according to NHTSA campaign id number 03v194000 (electrical system;wiring,interior/under dash); however, the recall remedy did not correct the failure. On a separate occasion, the instrument cluster failed and the contact noticed a burning smell inside the passenger compartment. Also, the accelerator pedal would become stuck without warning when it was depressed and the front driver's side seat belt retractor was inoperative. The webbing failed to extract. The failure mileage was 82,000 and current mileage was 99,000.
