1 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2022

The contact owns a 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander. The contact that while traveling at various highway speeds, the "transmission overheating", warning message would appear on the instrument panel as the vehicle would lose power. The contact stated that the vehicle would restart after a 10 minute wait and would resume normal operation. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic who discovered that there was no defect with her vehicle and that the failure was linked to an electrical glitch. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 52,000.

2 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 09/27/2021

1) transmission or power train 2) the vehicle may be inspected at request 3) the vehicle starts and may go for about a mile, and then it will buck and act like it's in neutral for all gears. I got stuck in the middle of an intersection turning left. I managed to get it back home, and then needed help pushing it into the driveway, where it sits. 4) I have seen several similar complaints for the years; 2012, and 2014 through 2021. 5) the vehicle has been worked on, and the valve body for the transmission was replaced about a month ago. 6) the warning message that popped up just before the issue was "transmission service is required. " it appeared on 9/27/2021, the day I was giving a ride to someone across town. I had recently replaced the valve body, because the solenoids were failing, and the transmission itself was serviced.

3 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2020

At 115,000 miles, the transmission went out. My SUV no longer goes above 30mph without the rpms wildly jumping. Both the 2014 and 2015 models have a recall for this very cvt issue but the 2013 does not.

4 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/16/2019

Driving down the interstate its about 85 degrees out and im going 70 mph. The transmission over heat light come on and it says to slow down. I didn't have a choice because the car started slowing down on its own. About 5 miles a pull over at a exit. I let it sit for about 15 minutes. Everything cleared up and I was able to make it home with no more problems.

5 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2018

The contact owns a 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander sport. The contact stated while driving 65 mph, the transmission started overheating. There was a message displayed on the instrument panel to slow down. The vehicle then started to decelerate independently. The contact was able to park the vehicle and waited 10-15 minutes before restarting the vehicle. The contact stated that failure recurred within 45 minutes. The contact took the vehicle to independent mechanic and was informed that the pin needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact took the vehicle to another independent mechanic where the mechanic performed a transmission flush. The contact continued to experience the failure after the transmission was flushed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 96,793.

6 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2013

I noticed oil dripping from underneath the motor and transmission took vehicle to the dealership they said it was to full of oil, took vehicle back home continued to leak, took vehicle back again to dealership for same leak they said it was the cvt filter so they replaced it. Took vehicle home parked it in garage when I woke up next day to check on it there was a puddle of oil under the motor and transmission, had to have the vehicle towed back to dealership and now they are saying the seal between the motor and trans. Is bad, then they said that wasnt it that the transmission's mold is defective and they have to order a new transmission from Mitsubishi in japan, I havent had the vehicle now for almost 3 weeks and they told me it would be another 2 weeks,.
