general problems of the 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander

The front passenger door will not open from the inside nor from the outside. This could be a severe safety issue in case of emergency! I tried unplugging the battery for 15 minutes and reconnecting. Still does not work. No warnings/messages. No recalls. What if this happened to other doors? what if I drove into a lake and could not escape the vehicle?.

I was driving down the road at 60 miles an hour. My car completely shut down restarted itself while I was in drive going 60 miles an hour. It put me back in first gear shot my rpms through the roof. I put it in park once I come to a stop, sit there for a minute shut it down started back up. Finished my drive out after that happened. My stereo has kicked in and out about every 20 minutes while going down the road.

The engine shuts off while at idle for stop lights, stop signs, and on occasion brief stops such as reversing and turning. The battery has been replaced, the alternator has been checked, & the catalytic converter was checked no problems there. However the problem persists with no warning/engine/battery light on. This is a big problem when trying to safely operate the vehicle especially if others are expecting me to go and then the car shuts off.

Rear liftgate lock release handle Mitsubishi part number 5810a089 (100% electrical) failed due to excessive moisture penatration in this area causing abnormal rust to the liftgate in the same location. I now notice other vehicles like mine have the same rust condition in the same area. I wash the vehicle on a regular basis and I keep it in a heated garage when I'm home.

My transmission doesn't go into gear right away and doesn't drive right in automatic. If I switch it to manual and only go up to 5th gear it shifts fine. There was a transmission recall for same year make and model as mine. Those recalls happened around 80,000 miles. I have 84,000. I was previously told I needed either a fuel tank or fuel injectors, never got it diagnosed. My gas gauge reads full all the time even when I dont have gas.

Vehicle started having rough idle at about 70,000 miles when air conditioner would be turned on. Rmp's would fluctuate between 500-1000. Now at about 90,000 miles vehicle has rough idle whether ac is on or not. Vehicle has stalled when changing gears, while waiting at a stop or when sitting in traffic. Today 3/24/21 vehicle stalled while entering an intersection which could have caused an accident. Vehicle also has a hesitation when trying to accelerate whether from a stop or from a coasting speed. Vehicle was taken to dealership on October 2019 for cvt8-ecm reflash as per recall but it only solved the acceleration problem for a couple of months. There should be another recall on this vehicle as these problems can cause personal injury/accident.

Transmisi�n slips , car studders during acceleration, very dangerous when trying to cross a street or entering highways. Very hard to control steering, engine makes a loud noise (as if you aceelerate and there is no power, high rpm noise).

The vehicle stalls when the air conditioning/ heating is turned on and sometimes the engine shuts off. This has happened while the vehicle is stationary and in traffic while he vehicle is in motion and while waiting at a traffic light or stop sign. .

Tl- the contact owns a 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander. The contact stated that the vehicle sometimes will not start with the push start button. No warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who could not duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure was 80,000. Hk.

During initial acceleration from a standstill, or when accelerating again after either constant speed operation or coasting the transmission will delay in the vehicle accelerating. While at 60-65 mph the vehicle will fluctuate in rpm and try to accelerate on its own. The service transmission light came on and the check engine light has been going off and on since the vehicle was purchased in October 2017. When bringing it in for service dealer says there is nothing wrong. I went to autozone when the check engine light went on and it is stating the catalytic converter bank 1 has issues. So when I parked it this morning 4-24-18 because of the light going one for the transmission, I tried starting it and it started but hesitated and then all the check engine lights went off. I believe there is something up with the ecu too. I know there are recalls for 2015 Outlander sports but why not mine when I am having the same issues. Thank you.

The contact owns a 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander sport. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign numbers: 18v103000 (visibility), 18v070000 (parking brake), and 17v609000 (electrical system). The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs. The contact called fresno Mitsubishi at 559-899-3255 (5505 n blackstone Ave, fresno, CA 93710) several times, but was awaiting a call back regarding part availability and a recall repair appointment. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

The sensor for the airbags was out during the crash but airbags did not deploy.

Dealer will not honor recall ,over 100 miles from dealer.

Driver proceeded to stop the vehicle in traffic and the brakes failed and did not engage. The vehicle did not come to a stop and hit the car in front of it. According to an of-duty police officer directly behind my vehicle, the brake lights were lit up as if the brakes were functioning but no slowing of the vehicle occurred.
