I was traveling on a city street. A vehicle pulled out in front of me. I hit them. I was going approximately 35 mph. My car has been totaled. The airbag did not deploy. I have contacted Mitsubishi motors and they gave me this contact information.
Tl- the contact owns a 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph, to swerve and prevent crashing into a deer by veering right the vehicle then crashed into a tree and the air bags failed to deploy. The seat belt restrained the driver tightly. The driver sustained pains to the left should and collar bone as well as further medical treatment due to no air bag deployment and the seat belt restraining. The insurance company was notified and was to tow the vehicle to a facility for further testing and diagnosis. A dealer had not diagnosed the failure for the air bags to deploy yet. The manufacturer was notified of the failure to determine if they may be able to investigate the vehicle and provide technical guidance. The approximate failure mileage was 44,000. Dyd.
Tl the contact owned a 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander. While the contact was merging into traffic, the brake pedal was depressed and the vehicle failed to respond. As a result, the contact crashed into another vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact sustained injuries that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic and then towed to GMC mosses (5200 route 60 east, huntington, wv, 877-332-3584). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was deemed a total loss by the insurance agency. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that the vehicle performed as designed. The failure mileage was 21,000.
I was involved in a rare end collision on an icy road. I braked and the car essentially slid directly into an 18 wheeler. The vehicle was in forward motion on a highway doing around or below est 40mph. Upon impact the airbags failed to deploy despite the extensive damage seen. Injuries were minor cuts and bruises and whiplash. Seat belts definitely did their job since the airbags failed to do its job.
