The electric parking break was stuck and alarm going off. Only used ebrake maybe 5 times in the years I have had my car. This time was I used it while parked on a hill. The ebrake would not disengage properly. Dealer says need a new one, even though the electric parking brake now engages and releases ok, just the alarm won't go off. Then I learned that there was a recall for the 2016 Outlanders for the parking brake not engaging/disengaging properly. Why is there not a recall for the 2017 Outlanders with this problem?.
E brake will not disengage.
12/08/22 my breaks malfunctioned prior to impact I could not stop and I rear ended another car the other persons car wasn't nearly as bad as mine . . My Outlander however is totaled. Even though I was only doing 30. They were replaced in September 2022 as well but the problem had happened a few times before but I didn't know if there was a recall on it until now . And I have also had my engine stall on a few occasions for no reason. Im very disappointed . Had my breaks not malfunctioned id still have my car.
My 17-year old son was stopped at a stop sign. He waited until any oncoming cars had passed before he started to move out of the stop. He turned right out of the stop and onto the cross street. After only a few feet, my son notice the front of the vehicle was angled toward the curb & he tried to pull the wheel out of the angle and stepped on the brakes. The steering wheel would not turn at all & the brakes didn't do anything. My son stepped on the brake pedal two more times and the vehicle did not slow down or respond to this. The car went into the front steps of our local police station. Because he had about 40 feet from stop sign to impact, we estimate he had about 2 seconds to respond to this situation & could not have exceeded 10-15mph in that time. Upon impact, the air bag did not deploy. There was minimal property damage to the building, but the car was totaled. The entire front end was pushed in. My son was able to exit the vehicle and luckily did not have any sever injuries. We are writing this complaint because of existing safety recalls to the Mitsubishi Outlander sport for all the years surrounding our 2017 model. These complaints all note engine stalling after complete stops. The engine stalls lead to unresponsive steering wheels, brakes that don't work, and airbags that don't deploy. We want this situation investigated as well.
Used my e brake and now my rear is grinding. My car just hit 30,000 miles. I’ve put 12,000 on it. Brakes work fine. Only happened after I used e brake.
Emergency break stuck and alarm sounding. First time ebrake was ever used. Vehicles ebrake was set while parked on a hill. Will not disengage properly.
I have a 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander that has never been in a wreck or anything put the airbag light come on and I have already took it to the dealership and they tired to make me pay for the services it is on all the time when you are driving it and some times the brakes will not work right especially on wet pavement.
Tl the contact owned a 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander. While the contact was merging into traffic, the brake pedal was depressed and the vehicle failed to respond. As a result, the contact crashed into another vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact sustained injuries that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic and then towed to GMC mosses (5200 route 60 east, huntington, wv, 877-332-3584). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was deemed a total loss by the insurance agency. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that the vehicle performed as designed. The failure mileage was 21,000.
From time to time the brakes don't want to work right if you have to press them kinda hard they just make you keep going like you are sliding.
Emergency brake and "auto hold" fail. I was at stop light and had the auto hold activated. I had been at the stop behind another vehicle for about 45 seconds before a bunch of warning lights came up and the dash stated emergency brake fault, auto hold unavailable and the vehicle began to roll forward. I was able to stop the vehicle safely. I turned the vehicle off then back on and the faults were gone. No stored codes had come up.
