Multiple times I have been driving at a safe speed with no other vehicles or people around and the dashboard will beep and light up brake! brake!.
?I believe the locks should be recalled my lock actuatora on my 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander keeps going out……both my passenger front and back are out for a second time. And driver side doesn’t always unlock and lock with the key fob. All have been fixed before and it has been less than a year after being fixed. This is a safety issue and I think they need to put a recall out!.
The touchscreen for the main infotainment system is becoming unresponsive. It’s impossible to use the most basic functions while driving without being distracted. It’s caused me to swerve & almost lose control of the vehicle on multiple occasions— as it distracted me from driving because initially the screen had spotty functionality (without any sort of warning, so it seemed like user error). There is currently a service notice from Mitsubishi sent out to all owners of Outlander and Outlander sports (my 2020 thru 2022) to replace these units under warranty because of a manufacturing defect. My vehicle is eligible for this, and I’m on the wait list, but that’s the where the bigger problem begins: my local Mitsubishi dealership estimated a 4 month wait period — this was back on 5/9/25; it’s now 11/17/25 so it’s actually been over 6 months. Given that they never called me since may, I called them last week to check the status and they said they do not have an estimated time frame for when the infotainment unit will be replaced. A little research online shows this problem is widespread; consumer websites and other general forums have plenty of people detailing similar experiences with this problem and frustration with how Mitsubishi is handling it. To make matters worse, there is only one way to contact Mitsubishi motors (aside from the dealership) — it’s the basic customer service USA phone number. I have not talked to anyone there because they simply do not answer. And there are no email addresses available either. I sincerely believe this issue needs to be addressed as a safety recall, as it is obviously a distraction while driving and needs to be taken with more priority. The fact they act like they are volunteering to fix this problem, and at their own leisurely pace, is wrong and grounds for a class action lawsuit. This is not about money — this is about people’s safety, and stopping a company from doing whatever they want without any sort of accountability.
So my push to start has to be pushed twice in order to crank the vehicle and when I first got the car about 9 months ago it didn’t do that and about since January the computer system failed twice and it showed a message about the computer system don’t remember exactly what it said and took a 1/2 to a hour to get it to come back one.
The touchscreen does not work. This impairs use of the hands free telephone usage, volume levels, and altering of settings. This is a known problem, and Mitsubishi has recalled it in australia. It is unsafe for any driver to not have ready access to hands free phone usage as it is well known how often distracted driving due to phones has caused accidents.
The touchscreen controlling many functions and settings of the vehicle failed. That means there are numerous settings and driving options that can no longer be accessed and that any functions requiring touch such as navigation, music, and others requires using your connected device while driving (meaning looking and touching your phone while driving). This creates unsafe driving conditions for the many thousands of drivers that have experienced this problem. There is a very large community on the internet saying that Mitsubishi should issue a recall, but Mitsubishi doesn't seem to care at all. They do, however, encourage the many that are having the problem to go to their service department and have the whole infotainment/ control computer replaced to the tune of about $4000. Seems like a blatant money grab to me-- one that is causing thousands of drivers who cannot or will not undergo that $4000 expense to drive a vehicle where they do not access to all setting controls and are required to fiddle with their phone while driving. Very unsafe.
The driver's seat goes forward but doesn't life up. It is stuck in a reclined position. The motor doesn't work to lift the sit up but does for the forward movement,. When you revlind seat it does not incline. Chair motor is not sold separately but was told the whole drivers seat have to be replaced.
The radio system failed two years ago many drivers with the same car have similar problem.
Dec 1,2023 tried to stop and the brakes was grinding and the milage goes up and down as you are driving and it says routine maintenance required when you put the key in to start the Outlander as got it from todd judy Ford in charleston wv and according to Mitsubishi toll free number it is not in my name leonard adkins jr or my aunt's name kathy diane adkins and they delivered it on September 15, 2023 and took her name and put it through the wv dmv with my insurance application number and kathy diane adkins don't have a driver's license just an wv I'd and would not go over the paperwork that she was signing and they said they will mail us a copy of the paperwork but we have never gotten it through the mail and classified it as a motorcycle wv dmv title number is ncv000107657.
In less than 60k miles since manufacture of the vehicle, the infotainment screen began to be insensitive to touch. 6k miles later it no longer works. During that time it was inconsistently working. This is a safety issue due to the driver focusing their eyes on the infotainment screen, while repeatedly pressing the same button, instead of the road. Most times, the driver had to pull over to make the change. Sometimes, due to urgency of the change, the driver had to pull over where little to no shoulder existed which could have resulted in a fatality had a vehicle struck the driver's vehicle. It has recently be learned that a standard computer mouse can be used to operate the infotainment unit. Without saying, this is completely unacceptable procedure for a moving vehicle. Mitsubishi will no do anything to honor this failure, and based on discussions in various forums, the screen dies within the first couple years of owning the vehicle. In the subject late model 2020, the screen had no longer worked by 3q24.
The touchscreen does not work. This creates a safety issue as hands free driving is no longer am option. There are 1000s of complaints directly to Mitsubishi and they're not doing anything about it. The response is basically "we're aware our equipment failed, go to a dealership and pay to have it replaced" that should not be the consumer's out of pocket cost as Mitsubishi is fully aware of faulty equipment and needs to be held responsible. Everyone's safety is at risk because of this default.
The touch screen is inoperable so you can't control the radio or aspects of the car such as how the lights, wipers, maintenance, etc. Are set. This is a hazardous situation. I contacted the dealer, and they knew exactly what I was referring to as they said they don't repair the system but only replace and it is $3. 200. My auto was only 3 years old but had over 36,000 miles (the warranty). Why is an electrical component that controls much of the car warrantied on milage and only 36k. They know of this problem.
Radio digitizer touch screen not working - can not pair bluetooth phone to comply with hands free laws. Unable to access some vehicle settings. Dealer said this is a very common issue - warranty expires at 36,000 miles and repair cost is $3,000. 00 !.
Touch screen radio stopped working by touch reported the problem and was told by our dealer they couldn’t fix it it had to go to another dealer. That dealer said they could fix it and sent us back by the time they had time for us the warranty was out and they want us to pay for it after only 2 years. A family member had this say issue and sued and got a settlement and radio fixed.
I'm driving at 40 miles per hour and I turn off the radio and the lights on my board but it's still walking, then I parked to inspect it I turned it off and I wanted to turn it on and I didn't want to. Then I put the key in the glove box where the radio frequency of the ship is programmed or sent and it turned on in a while it gives me a warnin to check the electrical system on my board and this happened to me 3 times a day.
While traveling on the freeway at 70mph, the car suddenly started flashing warnings of "ev system required stop safely", "rbs service required!", and the service engine soon light came on. Also, I wasn't able to accelerate over 20mph. I quickly exited the freeway and turned off the car. When I restarted it, the car seemed to operate normally as far as the acceleration, but the service engine light soon light remained and the "brake!" forward collision mitigation system started to randomly kick in. Interestingly, in the week leading up to the system shutting down the forward collision mitigation system had randomly kicked in a few times, but I assumed there was something low in the road I wasn't seeing. I've also experienced issues with the audio system and rear camera in the week leading up to this incident; the rear camera twice never appeared when in reverse and the audio source would erratically switch from xm radio to apple car play on its own. The vehicle had just under 1,700 miles on it when this happened.
In early morning after returning from dr. Appointment while traveling west on i8 I was in between 2 tractor trailers was 3 tractor trailers being passed in slow lane all were going 75mph or so when I got to middle semi. . All sudden the 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander 3300miles 1. 5 months old . . . Shut down. . . Nuthing then it jumped to right and I thought I was going under semis trailer I grasped steering wheel with right hand and tried to keep vehicle going straight in my lane but by then I was 2ft from trailer and all sudden the car started shuddering violently and wheels ( front seemed to lock up and the a super loud banging and metal and I could hear parts and pieces sounded like they were flying allover and by this time semis that watched it all happen slowed and I was able to regain control although the interior filled with smoke and was hard to see out windows I had no power it came on for split second then off igot to side of highway and stopped . . Took a few moments to compile myself before getting out didnt wait long maby 5 second all this happened in moments . I'm 60 and have never ever felt a blow like this . There is a problem with these vehicles . Mitsubishi came and grabbed it with in 1. 5 hours took it to casa grande iv asked them tonight to dont touch the car yet.
